Just wondering......
I wrote about this in another thread and it got me thinking....
Does anyone here have more than one stepchild?
I have 1 Stepson and 1 Stepdaughter - both with completely opposite attitudes and temperaments.
My SS is 16 (almost 17) and an absolute ANGEL. I TELL YOU, he has NEVER caused us one ounce of trouble or grief in the past 11 years that i've known him. He is sweet and respectful, he is good in school, listens to what he is told and is an absolute pleasure to have around.
My SD on the other hand is 14 and completely irrational and immature. She walks around with a chip on her shoulder, yells, screams and cries and has been like this her whole life. I can't necessarily say that she is disrespectful towards me because she doesn't and she is very sweet sometimes, we do get along well MOST of the time but she will do things that literally make me want to smash my head into a wall. At any random moment, she "hates" someone or someone is a "loser." Everything is everybody elses fault, never hers, and when it's clearly pointed out that it is her fault, she will either laugh about it in an obnoxious way or just cry until someone tells her she is right.
EXAMPLE: The other day, SD got into a fight with DH and "deleted" us both from her BBM and Facebook. I didn't even realize it since i'm so disgusted with her lately that I don't even bother keeping tabs but when she came over that weekend, we were laughing about something and she tried to send me an image on my phone and blurted out, OH I HAVE TO "RE-ADD" you!!. I made a comment that next year, in 10th grade, maybe she will start acting a bit more mature. She replied...probably not! ha ha ha ha.
I love them both to pieces but the personality difference between them is ASTOUNDING. So, my question is, has anyone else seen anything like this?

Yep, I have a SS and a SD. The boy is definitely more emotional but in a good way. He takes a lot to heart. SD *seems* more kind outwardly, but really she is much more cunning and does have the female bitchiness going on for her without a doubt. Sometimes I wish I could slap the snottiness right out of her - f course DH only sees her as a perfect angel

Re: Just wondering......
I only have my SD but I'd be curious to hear from parents with both a teen boy and girl to see if in general it is a gender thing ( as far as the attitude etc...) I myself will have that someday

Re: Just wondering......
Oh my gosh, your SD sounds exactly like my SD and your reaction is exactly how I react! I only have one so I can't comment on any differences, but your SD sounds like mine to a tee... my SD just turned 13 and everything from her outfits to her attitude to her grades to her hair are all someone elses fault. It drives me UP A WALL and somedays, now being almost 7 months pregnant, I call my mother crying b/c I just don't know how to deal with it. I finally just recently told her for the 1st time to get out of my face until her father gets home. I told her to go to her room and not come down until he got home. I couldn't deal with it anymore...

Re: Just wondering......
I have 2 SD's (now age 24 & 19). They are total opposites. The older one is quiet and obedient. The younger one is outgoing and a little dis-obedient! Neither is bad, though, in any way. They are both good kids, but totally different from one another.
