Diet for Gout ?
My husband got a Gout attack.. anyone know of natural remedies...
diet plans...etc..

My mother had it a while back and had to avoid alcohol and shell fish. I don't remember anything else particular (but that doesn't mean there isn't anything else to watch for). Sorry to hear this and hope he's feeling better.

My dad had one last year. Someone told him to eat alot of cherries and to stay away from tomatoes, so he did. He was in alot of pain, it lasted about 3 days. I hope your DH feels better!

My FIL has a list taped up to the fridge of 'trigger' foods and foods that are good for him. I'll see if he can fax it to me and I'll post it for you.

stay away from alcohol, shellfish, and red meats.
My dad has gout, and mostly eats chicken.
I hope he feels better

Good Foods/Nutrients: Cherries Strawberries Blueberries Celery seeds - 4/5 stalks Lean fish Skinless poultry Egg white Low fat dairy Ginger Red pepper (inhibits pain (capsaicin)) Water Fish oil 1500 mg over 3 meals Flaxseed oil (1/2 tablespoons) Pineapple (bromelain-- anti-inflammatory)
Bad Foods/Nutrients: Meat Rich foods (cakes & pies) White flour Sugar (sucrose, table sugar) Dried beans Cauliflower Fish Lentils Oatmeal Peas Poultry Spinach Yeast products Anchovies Asparagus Consomme Herring Meat gravies Broths Mushrooms Mussels Organ meats Sardines Sweetbreads No fasting longer than 3 days 'Nightshade' vegetables (green peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, white potatoes) Iron Vitamin A Niacin (above 50/100 mg)
