Letter to the Superintendent
I wrote a letter to my son's teacher thanking her for going above & beyond for him this year. I gave a copy to the principal & wanted to send one to the superintendent as well.
The email address for the superintendent is on our district's website but I'm not seeing a physical address.
I can call the office (hopefully they're open) but is it inappropriate to email her? Any suggestions on the subject line? The teacher's name?
Will the letter go in whatever personnel file they have?
I've read on her that the letters carry more weight for teachers. In my company, we have letters written about employees all of the time but we've found some employees actually solicit letters from the client (a big no-no IMO).

Re: Letter to the Superintendent
That is really thoughtful of you to do. I had a parent email me and cc the principal and the superintendent. My principal told me a copy would go into my file. I'm sure the district office is open and they could give you the address, but emailing would work as well. If there is a superintendent for human resources, send it to him/her as well, since that's the personnel person. This teacher will always remember that you took the time to do this.

Thanks for responding...I think all of the teachers are out on summer vacation
Here's the letter if you want to read it.

Re: Letter to the Superintendent
That's really a wonderful letter. I am sure the teacher will remember it forever. Did you hear back from the teacher or the administration?

Re: Letter to the Superintendent
The central office staff should be in the office all summer long. That's one of the reasons they get paid so much...no summer break! I would just send it to the school address to the attention of the superintendent....it'll get to him/her through the school somehow.
That's a really nice thing you're doing! All too often, the only contact we have with parents is bad news....it's great to get some good stuff mixed in there too!

Re: Letter to the Superintendent
Barb,
I see the Superintendent every day... at least I drive by her car on the way to pick the kids up.
Yeah, she's in the same building.
If you'd like I can drop it off for you. I'll make sure she gets it.
And that's an awesome thing to do. Letters like that are worth more than gold. I know my district's policy is all letters (good and bad) go in the personnel file. I wish more parents took the time.
