Balance bikes for Toddlers...anyone have?
Noah has a tricycle he likes ok ( radio flyer one) and got a Spierman Old School Hot wheels for his June Birthday, but WANTS a bike.
I think he is too young/small for a training wheels trike ( he cannot ride his 4 yr old cousins at all)
I LOVE the idea of the balance bike...teaching them balance.
My sister said her older kids went right from a balance bike to a big bike, no training wheels at all.
I feel its safer to teach them.
ANYWAY....Looking for a brand thats reccomended.
I saw some on the Martha Stewart show the other day, too much $$ and they had them on Mamabargains yesterday, but the time I got home to buy one ( saw on phone), they were sold out.
Any rec's?
TIA!!

Re: Balance bikes for Toddlers...anyone have?
we have the Skuut Balance Bike and DD loves it. we also thought that she could go straight from the balance to 2 wheels, but no such luck as she needs more time to get the peddling concept under control among other things. she's also still 3, turning 4 at the end of this month.
at the end of the summer we are hoping DD#2 will be able to ride it a bit (she turns 18 months end of this month).
although i love this bike, i have seen others that are constructed differently and may be a tad more durable, don't know though...

From on line
Popular in Europe for decades, the benefits of teaching your child to ride with a run bike or what is also known as a balance bike are finally catching on here in the U.S. With a balance bike your son or daughter can skip the training wheels and learn the balance and coordination it takes to ride on his or her own. Kids as young as 2 can get going on a balance bike (though at that age its more of a 'walk bike') since their feet can always touch the ground. A balance bike provides a much more stable feeling than training wheels, plus self-reliance. Balance bikes from renowned companies such as Skuut, Smart Gear, and Strider Sports teach kids to ride a bike with confidence, preparing them for an exciting future on two wheels.
We learn to crawl before we can walk, and run before we can bike. So why do kids have to leap from tricycles to bicycles without learning how to balance a bike on their own? Bicycles with training wheels are one way, but these can give a child a false confidence when those training wheels come off. Teaching your child to ride a bike with a pedal free wooden bicycle or metal bike introduces balance, steering, and speed control before they push the pedals of their first two-wheeler

Re: Balance bikes for Toddlers...anyone have?
I'd love one of these for my daughter, anyone have any idea where one can go to check them out in person? Are there any balance bike dealers in the area?
