Real Estate Agents.

Where do you take the course? Were you prepared to take the test?

Re: Real Estate Agents.

I took the class in Levittown, I forget the name of the place. I was very prepared for the test, although still nervous! Chat Icon

Re: Real Estate Agents.

online with Kaplan

I thought it was very simple and the test was based on the questions in the back of the book that everyone uses

Re: Real Estate Agents.

I was actually just wondering this myself. How do you go about becoming a real estate agent?

Re: Real Estate Agents.

I took the classes through MLS at the Dowling campus. I felt prepared for the state test but didn't find it "easy"

Re: Real Estate Agents.

When I first decided I was interested in real estate, I set up appointments with 4 different real estate agencies. I prepared a list of questions (how does the commission work, what is required in getting the license, costs that I am responsible for, what they will do to help me get a good start in the business, etc.).

Don't be intimidated. Let them interview you, but you can interview them too! After all, you want to try to see if you'll be a good fit for them and them for you. After the appointments I felt much more prepared to begin my journey into the world of real estate.

The agencies will tell you who offers the courses in your area. When you pass the test at the end of the course, then you'll take the State exam. Once you pass that, you choose which agency you want to work for, the Broker will sponsor you and you're on your way.

Beware-it's a tough market out there and even tougher when you're going through the learning curve. The upside? If you can make it in this difficult market, you'll be well seasoned to take do well when the market turns around for the better!

Best of luck!
