TTC and the pill
HI, I have been married 11, yes 11 days and we are thinking of TTC right away. Today was the first day of AF (sorry if TMI). I have been taking the pill for about 6 years and this will be my last week of taking them (I am on the placebos). Do we have to wait one regular cycle to TTC? I mean is it bad or unhealthy for the baby if I got pregnant this month as opposed to next month? OMG, am I making any sense? TIA

My DR. told me there was no need to wait, but I've heard of other Dr.s suggesting you do.

My dr did say to wait a month (not ttcing yet but curious). He said chances of getting pg with twins is very high the first month off the pill...but dangerous for the mom!!!

My dr said the same. There's no harm to the baby, the pills are out of your system within 24 hours of taking them, plus you are on placebo pills, they don't have any meds in them. Start taking a prenatal vitamin though! That couldn't hurt!

I was told you are most fertile after you stop the pill. In fact DH is a "pill baby". After multiple fertility issues & mcs, my MIL was told to take the pill, stop it & than TTC.
I belive most doctors don't suggest it because they want to know the date of conception, to measure growth.

I say go for it right away. There's no risk if you do get pg...so the sooner the better!

My doc didn't say we had to wait, but you are a bit more likely to have twins.

I was under the impression that the reason they tell you to wait is so that you can monitor your cycle as it may take one or two before you are self regulated. Though not everyone has a 28 day cycle - I never did BEFORE the pill and I doubt I will afterwards. I am too old to "wing it" so monitoring my cycle will prove to be very important for us to conceive. We plan on stopping the pill after my next cycle.

exactly what I was told also! and god forbid you have a miscarriage, without any prior cycle to look at, your Dr may have a harder time pinpointing an issue.
