This is getting frustrating trying to schedule therapy sessions for DS
These agencies are so short handed and it is becoming difficult to schedule sessions

A lot are not taking new cases until September. They are finishing cases in the Summer and kids age out.
What services are you looking for? What area? I forgot where you live.

He is getting 2 speech, 1 pragmatic group and 2 OT (1 in a sensory gym). The sensory gym kind of narrows down my search.
I am in Merrick so I was looking for places in my area. Little Village has me on a wait list...they are short OT. Kidz Therapy squeezed me in barely...they are short OT's too. They put me in afternoons and I am hoping TJ does well b/c he sometimes still naps but they had nothing in the morning

I could ask my OT if you want me to and if she is interested. She is with Kids First.
She is AMAZING! My speech person has seen her in her sessions with DS and started recommended her to her other kids.
Did you try All about Kids? Ask for Diana? She was great finding me my PT. Who is amazing to!!!!

Re: This is getting frustrating trying to schedule therapy sessions for DS
I just wanted to say I agree at how frustrating it is trying to work out these schedules. And I second smdl's recommendation for Diana at All About Kids. I was so unhappy with the agency I used for the eval process that I desperately started calling other agencies for "advice". Diana was amazing, amazing, amazing and she wasn't even on my case (so to speak). She would call me often to check up and see if things were falling into place. Definitely call her :)

My DS attends Little Village for presechool and even he had trouble getting an OT. I think OTs in particular are in short supply right now. We were waiting for a few months before we finally got someone.

The only problem is I need to take him to a facility with a sensory gym so services can't be given at my house.

I will ask my therapists. I believe there is a sensory gym in Merrick.

Re: This is getting frustrating trying to schedule therapy sessions for DS
I've heard that there is a shortage of OTs on LI right now. We had such a hard time finding one, I had to find one on my own through some of my contacts!!!
