"I'm the mother of 6..."
ughhhhhh!!!!
Was at a conference today; afterwards I went up to the lecturer and we were discussing some rules and technicalities of our profession, and she says "I"m the mother of 6, i'm sure I could figure it out!"
She doesn't know me from Adam but i'm thinking, so, what does that make me cause I don't have kids?

I think she just used it as an example of her reasoning/multitasking ability, I don't think it was a personal dig at you for not having kids.
Does she even know you're childless?

she doesn't know, but my point is why does having 6 kids make your reasoning skills that much better than anyone else's?

Because people without kids are simple-minded selfish immature soul stealing monsters....didn't you know that? of course they CAN'T multitask!

SO if she said she's a business executive or an amazing chef, athlete, college graduate or whatever...would she be saying you are incompetent? I do not think that she meant that at all. She was probably just stating an example of how she is competent, as you might do too. That stinks that it hurt your feelings though,

Totally crashing here.... but I have 3 children, and I KNOW that my brain is MUSH half the time.... so take that and ADD 4 kids.... she is really saying that she is a mushy-minded FOOL

I really don't take comments like that in that way.
I do think there are people out there who think they're ABFAB for being parents and anyone who doesn't have children aren't nearly as crafty but my initial thought to a response like the one you got is that she just sighted being the mom of six (which holy COW is a BROOD!!!  ) as someone who can multitask.
Now if this was someone who ALWAYS makes comments like this or more so makes jabbing comments about you NOT being a mom, then I would be annoyed.
I don't know...I think everyone has things they're sensitive over. This is just something that doesn't bother me.
