LI teachers..what day do you start this year?
we go back on sept. 2, then are off Fri and Monday and the kids start on Tuesday the 7th. Just curious to see if most districts start before or after labor day

This is so strange. I'm LITERALLY having this conversation with someone on IM right now, and then I saw this. We go back on Tuesday, the 7th... WITH the kids. 
I know I'll be in the week before, of course, to set up/make copies, but we don't have to officially be there until Tuesday.

I think we are one of few schools where teachers start the 7th and the kids start the 13th!!!
Most schoools around us are doing 2nd or 3rd and students the 7th.

I am not on LI, but we go in the 7th and the 8th and then the students come in on 9th.
Note: We never get off for Rosh Hashanah here as we have a very, very small Jewish population. We do usually get off for Yom Kippur, but that is Fri-Sat this year.

My husband's district teachers go the 1st and 2nd and kids start the 7th.

Teachers go in September 1st, the students come Thursday & Friday, September 2 & 3. This is the first time in over 15 years we are starting before Labor Day. My own kids go back in Commack on the 7th.
