Sun Rocks Santorini
Anyone ever been? I've found great reviews and recommendations - but it's only listed as a 2 star hotel, which makes me nervous. Any thoughts?

Re: Sun Rocks Santorini
I am not familiar with it - but I will say that in Europe the star system isn't the same as what we use - so a three star is not as good as our three star would be. So I am not sure whether I would try a 2 star

Re: Sun Rocks Santorini
What Lillykat said is true - DH and I went on our honeymoon in Greece (Santorini, Crete, and Athens) and the only hotel that lived up to it's star rating was the one that we stayed at in Athens. It was part of an American chain of hotels though. The hotel in Santorini I think had a 4 star rating, but it definitely was not up to American 4 star standards. (It was the Astra Apartments in case you're interested - the best views on the island).

Re: Sun Rocks Santorini
I too went to Santorini & Athens for my honeymoon...we stayed at Katikies (in Santorini) and I highly recommend it. Absolutely perfect on every level. In Athens we stayed at the Hilton - DH wanted an American hotel due to the large city and the reputation for the star ratings being below American standards. Both hotels are listed as 5 star hotels and I think that is accurate...jmo.
I spoke with someone who has visited 45+ of the Greek Isles and this was his recommendation for hotels:
Katikes Hotel
Atlantis Villas
Oia Mare Villas - go for the Honeymoon suite
He did say Sun Rocks was nice but it is in Firostefani - which is next to Fira - so it's quiet and you might be spending a lot of time venturing into Fira and/or Oia (which I totally recommend b/c it is so romantic!).

We stayed at the Oia Mare Villas during our HM and loved it. I definitely recommend staying in the town of Oia. Oia is a little quieter than some of the other towns, and it's the one that's known for the incredible sunsets.
