Has anyone tried the Brazilian Blowout yet?

My hairdresser just told me about this and I'm dying to try it. I think I might do it!

Anyone try it?

Oh really? Cool! I like the fact that you can wash it right away and that you don't have to worry about putting any product or accessories in your hair.
Thanks!

I have. I had it done last month...but I'll have to come back with my review on the process because my little man is getting fussy right now! Chat Icon

Re: Has anyone tried the Brazilian Blowout yet?

Two friends at work had the blowout. I just did the 24 hour one about a week and a half ago. My friends loved it, but it's out of their hair in less than 6 weeks. I hope mine lasts longer. I absolutely love it and will continue to get it done.

The process is really simple. I have long thick hair and it took just under 2 hours to do. First they wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo. Then blowdry it, soak it with the chemical, blowdry it again, and then flat iron it at a high temp to lock it in.

I can now blowdry my hair in less than 10 minutes and barely take a brush to it. The result looks like I spent a half hour blowing it out and then used the flat iron on it. The best part is I can sit out in the humidity for hours and my hair still looks the same. Very soft and shiny.

Re: Has anyone tried the Brazilian Blowout yet?

My review on the Brazilian Blowout:
The process:
-it took a little over 2 hours, but I also had my hair cut. I don't recall the exact process, but they washed my hair twice, applied the product and I think they used the straight iron on it next (or maybe they washed my hair and then did the straight iron. Like I said, I don't recall. Chat Icon )

-the fumes were crazy! My eyes were burning/tearing, which I never experienced with the JHS...and they even use a fan and opened the doors to help ventilate the area. The stylist claimed it was the alcohol in the product, but something tells me that wasn't alcohol. Brazilian Blowout claims they're formaldehyde free, but based on my experience with those fumes, it was pretty potent stuff. It also burned my scalp a bit, which again, never happened with JHS. There was a visible burn mark at my hairline. Nothing crazy, but it was definitely visually noticeable to me.

-I paid $295, but that included my cut, not including tip. I was told they start at $250 for the process and charge more depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

Outcome:
-Soft & shiny hair! JHS used to make my hair hard, tough to comb, but this changed all that. Now I can easily run a brush through wet hair.

-I still have a bit of JHS left on the lower portion of my hair, but my new curly growth is less curly. As each week goes by, I see it getting more curl.

-It doesn't dry straight, but it only takes 10-15 minutes to blow out my hair and it has body, unlike JHS. And it stays frizz free in high humidity, rain, sweat, etc..

-I use L'Oreal's sulfate free products...much cheaper than the Kerastase products I needed to soften my hair when having the JHS done!

I think I'll probably continue with the Brazilian Blowout until all of my JHS has grown out. It's nice being able to blow my hair out quickly and not worry about frizz. I'm just debating whether I should try a different salon to see if I have different results during the process and outcome.

FWIW, the stylist told me that there's a waiting list for Brazilian Blowouts products and it took their salon 3 years to get it, which is why a lot of salons can't/don't perform the process. How true that is, I don't know. Chat Icon

My friend is a stylist and did it for me at home. She only charged me for the chemicals ($100). Her salon typically charges $225 or something like that (for the 24 hour treatment). The salon that my friends went to charged them $250 for the blowout. It's next to Frank's Steaks in Jericho on Jericho Turnpike (I don't know the name, sorry).

GARNIER makes a really great product , blow dry prefrctor. Under $20 bucks. I have crazy wild curly frizzy hair. Thick as a horse's mane too. I tried this product , it lasts 7 washings, ( what the box says) let me tell you, in this muggy hot weather, didnt frizz @ all, when i always had to wear it in a bun... I swear by it now.. Plus instead of 2 hours to dry my hair, it takes half the time. What a god send...

Re: Has anyone tried the Brazilian Blowout yet?

I just had it done. It cost me $150, I got a recc from a friend on here. She does it before and after hours at her salon.

I have chin length hair and it took one hour. She washed me hair, blew it out, applied the product, blew it dry again, then flat ironed it. She then rinsed my hair and blew it out again. My hair was super straight, smooth and shiny.

It didn't burn my scalp at all. She had the door open and the A/C on and I did smell the fumes but they didn't sting or burn my nose, maybe because it was well ventilated inside.

I actually washed it again that night with special shampoo, it dried almost totally straight with a wave at the ends. It takes me five minutes or less to blow it out and it looks like it's been flat ironed.

My hair is so soft! I hope it lasts. I'll pay $150 every three months for hair this easy.

I was going to get it done but ended up getting the regular brazilian done.
I was told it is the same except it only lasts 3-4 weeks. The salon I go to charges $100 for the brazilian and start at $300 for the regular treatment.

I love the outcome. I did it July 4th weekend (big mistake because it was so hot) but it was so easy to do. I just started to notice that it is starting to get frizzy again so I think I am going to do it again come October. I found someone who works at a salon and on the side comes to your home. She charges $100 for the regular process and did my friends hair and it looks great and she is so happy with the out come.

I do the regular because my stylist did not recommend the blowout for my hair type which is very thick, with a combo of curly/straight with tons of frizz. I have done the regular 3 times already and have been very happy. It lasts me about 6 months. Honestly, I would be very unhappy and annoyed if I spent that amount of money only to have to go back in 3-4 weeks to get it done again.

I'm intrigued by this. Do you happen to know if you can use it while breastfeeding? Is it chemical-based?
