Anyone's house on a concrete slab?
If so, do you have issues in any area of your house with mositure/dampness? Our bedroom is like a BASEMENT I swear- it smells musty and the humidity is out of control in that room.
We use a dehumidifier and the damp rid stuff in there and it's still awful. Especially in the summer. I seriously think there is a mildew issue under the rug but we dont' want to replace the rug only to have it happen again.
No other room in the house is like this- and we are on a full slab so all rooms are on the slab.
Just curious if anyone else had this issue and if there was any remedy?

we are on a slab. We have central air which deletes the humidity issues.
However, if its just one room, you might have a mold issue in that one spot. I would pull up the carpet and see what lies beneath.

Re: Anyone's house on a concrete slab?
Are whole first floor is on concrete and we have a problem when there is high humidity. I cannot tell you about the carpet because ours was removed when we moved in. I believe that you need to put down some sort of barrier down to control the mositure.

Re: Anyone's house on a concrete slab?
i would take a walk around the house and see if the ground is falling into the house - if the water is pooling near the slab there may be sepage causing the problem

Too funny because my DH was looking at that product you just linked. I wonder if it works well. That might be one of our options. Also I think the property might be graded wrong and the water pools under our bedroom window- which is a nightmare because to regrade the property will cost a fortune too!

also look into if you can put a small french drain system in -just in your problematic area - to move water away

Re: Anyone's house on a concrete slab?
We're on a slab and run a dehumidifier. Like the above poster said the central ac helps a lot. All of my first floor is either wood or tile purposely to avoid any moisture issues.

We are on a full concrete slab, no problems with mold, or a musty smell in the house.
