Had to file a grievance

Over the summer, I got my attendance balance sheet in the mail and noticed that I didn't get my full allotted sick and personal days for last year. They gave me 8 and 2.5 instead of the normal 10 and 3. They claimed it was because I didn't put in a full year of service because I was out on maternity leave for the first 3 months. I got paid for every single day I was out, so I should have gotten the full amount of days. This happened to 2 other girls that were out at the same time with the same circumstances.

If you had to file a grievance at any time, how long was the process from start to finish? We just submitted the initial paperwork yesterday.

IDK why, but I have knots in my stomach over this. I try to fly so far below the radar, I hate having my name out there, especially with the lunatic of a superintendent we have now.

I filed a grievance due to a maternity leave issue as well. I think in total it took about a year for them to come to some kind of agreement with my union lawyer. I know what you mean about staying under ther radar, I hated every minute of it. Unfortunately, it had to be done...sounds the same for you. Good luck!
