Spinoff to STTN
I have my 2 month old twins on the same schedule. Lately one of the twins seems to be able to go longer between feedings and is much sleepier at night. I am waking her to keep them on the same schedule though, since my DS is still waking every 3 hours. She pretty much drinks her bottle while sleeping. I don't think she would STTN at this point but maybe sleep a 5 hour stretch. What would you do... should I let her sleep and stop waking her? DH thinks we should leave her, but my thinking is I will feed DS, get back to sleep, then she will wake up an hour later, and I will be up all night. I want them to be on the same schedule during the day also.

Re: Spinoff to STTN
For us, when this started happening and I didn't want to wake them anymore Dh would feed "his" baby for the night and I would feed "my" baby for the night so that we were sharing the duty. I went back to work FT at 8 weeks so there were no excuses why the both of us shouldn't be getting up to care for them....and the night that one of got the baby who slept longer stretches (usually DD) got lucky and got to sleep. It worked for us. Now at 6 months they both sleep straight through for 12+ hours!!

Julie, I do this too.
I have one guy who def can sleep longer and I wake him to take the bottle. He does it 1/2 asleep too and normally takes it...but I aways wondered if I let it go ...then hes up an hr later and there goes my sleep too!

Re: Spinoff to STTN
Hunter started sleeping longer than Georgie. At 1st, I was waking him up so that I could keep them on the same schedule. Finally I decided to just let him sleep. It was a pain for about 1-2 weeks but....NOW HE SLEEPS FOR 12 hours straight! Soooo worth it. DH and I rotate who has to get up with Georgie but hopefully he'll strethch his feedings out more too. <My boys are almost 4mo.>

My DH and I did the same thing - rotated who got up with each child every night. So every other night you are getting a tad more sleep

Re: Spinoff to STTN
I woke the sleepier baby for awhile....because i tried for a few nights to let her sleep and she would always be up within a hour or so of me falling asleep. Once my son started sleeping 4-5hours I let her sleep. I gifted if I was getting a 5 hour stretch I was lucky!!!

Re: Spinoff to STTN
Great idea - we want to try each taking care of one baby.... The only problem is they are not in our room so I am going to be waking up every time to see who it is! I can tell their cries apart during the day but at night when they are screaming and I am half asleep I have no clue. Maybe DH and I can just alternate the feedings for now.

Re: Spinoff to STTN
the same thing was happening to me and i tried it to see how long the other one would sleep and she went 6 1/2 hours while the other one only went 4 so it worked out well for me b/c i had 2 more hours of sleep. it depends on the time one wakes up if i wake the other or not . if i was back to work i would involve Dh, since i'm not i dont unless he's off the next day. i catch up on my sleep later in the morning if needed.

Re: Spinoff to STTN
OK, we are triyng tonight! Lets see how long Kylie will sleep. And DH is definitely helping with this. I am not back to work but also have a 2 year old to take care of during the day, so no catching up on sleep for me! I am going to have to wake up and practically drag him out of bed though!

Re: Spinoff to STTN
This is why we did shifts. I would sleep from 7pm to midnight and DH would be on duty then. I would be on duty from midnight on. That way I at least got a nice 5 hour block of sleep.

Re: Spinoff to STTN
I always kept them on the same schedule, until DD was really sleeping through the night - like 6-8 hours. Otherwise, I'd have been up all night.
