EZ PASS Acct Fee
I just got my EZPASS statement and there was a note in there that said starting July 1st they are implementing a $1 per month account service fee.
EZPass is faster, convenient, and cheaper... so why does this REALLY PI SS me OFF!

I got that notice a few weeks ago! I was ******!! They claim other agencies also charge monthly fees!?? NOT!

That Stinks. We have one but don't use it that often. But we like the convience of it. We definetly don't use it once a month (if we did Id be a little less upset I think  )

It pis ses me off b/c you pay the tolls in advance so now they are not only holding your money but charging you to do so.

I remember hearing a while ago they said they were going to do this and it ****** me off, but then never heard anything else, so I thought it wasn't happening. I kind of understand that you are saving time by using it, but if it's $12 a year, honestly, for someone like me who doesn't usually use it more then 3 or 4 times a year, it stinks!!

omg! I didn't even think of this! its true, they have your money on acct.
what annoys me too is when companies do what I call the "flip flop". When they started the system, they desperately try to lure motorists. To cut time, payroll and congestion, they give away these tags, even offer discounted tolls to use them. Fast forward a couple years and now they feel they are doing you the service (ok I guess they are in way) you want what we have? then pay for it. For infrequent travelers, there goes the discount all together. $1 this year, next year it'll be more, then you'll have to pay for the tags... etc....

Sure they are providing a service but at this point I almost feel like you have no choice but to have ezpass since there are usually very limited and extremely long toll lines.
Even with the toll discounts and free tags (although I thought you had to leave a deposit for them if you don't have a credit card on their file) they are making money or else it would not be available. There are a lot less employees working toll lanes (less salary, benefits, insurance, etc.).
PLUS, I know of quite a few people that got speeding tickets for getting from one ez pass scan to the next, especially on a road like the garden state parkway where there is a toll every 15-20 minutes. How's that for income without effort??

me too, for at least a yr and a half!
same here! since i rarely used mine anymore i cancelled it... i had to send it back... after i sent it back i got more charges on it for random tolls I NEVER drove through... I called to dispute it... the lady was rude and told me someone with my address could afford that extra couple of dollars! I was so ******! I checked the date on my post office receipt of when i mailed it back... i figured out that some how in the envelope in the mail truck, my EZPass must have gotten used when the truck went through the tolls! The stupid EZPass people told me that rarely happens and still wouldnt fix it on my account! I hate EZPASS...but unfortunately it is a lot more convienant than not having one!
