Wetting Bed at 4.5 years old?
DD usually wakes up wet at 4.5 yrs old. I put a diaper on her just in case and sure enough she is wet in the morning. She doesn't nap and is a heavy sleeper - so im guessing she doesn't realize she is even peeing?! My 3 yr old wakes up dry, has her milk at night - so what's going on?
How did you go about potty training at night? Should I bite the bullet and not have here wear a diaper - will that help her realize? Ive tried many times and its just turned into a laundry mess! she does drink milk and water an hour before bed - so I should really try and eliminate that right??!
Please share any insight. TIA

Re: Wetting Bed at 4.5 years old?
We were talking about this a couple weeks ago on this board, do a search a week or 2 back. I know what worked with my DS was getting him up in the night and making sure he was awake and making him use the toilet. It really helped and I don't know if it trained his brain or what but he stopped a couple weeks after. My DD is 6 and still uses a pull up but they generally aren't too concerned about it until after 6. But check for the thread, there was lots of other good insight.

yes - she has been 100% day trained since before 2 years old. She was keeping dry for a little while - but that didn't last too long.
I will try eliminating drinks at night - i just feel she should start to be dry at this point...but we shall see....

This is Ava to a T. She has been trained for years during the day, but because she was such a deep sleeper, she never really stayed dry at night. We had her in pull ups for the longest time and then at her 4 year visit, the dr. told us that she CAN stay dry, but she knows the pull up is there so she will use it. She said to wake her up a few times a night for a couple of weeks and she should be fine. Well, we're on week two of waking her and she hasn't had an accident yet. We told her that the dr. said no more pull ups and it seems to have done the trick. We were getting her up three times a night, once before we go to bed and two other times, now we're down to just before we go to bed and one other time in the night and it's working. At the end of this week, we'll try to go to just waking her before we go to bed. I think you just need to bite the bullet and do it. It's what I was dreading, but I'm happy we finally did it.
