Call me crazy...

...but my friends' wife whipped out her boob 2x in front of myself and dh to breastfeed her son on our trip to see them in Houston this weekend. One time was in a restaurant (yes, there was a more private area she could have gone to but was content to go ahead right at the table) another time at their breakfast table at home, and totally flashed her boob, again in front of dh and I. Dh wanted to crawl under both tables (I mean he's not rude and didn't jump up from the tables and run but he darn sure wanted to), and i'm like Chat Icon

Re: Call me crazy...

I think that a little discretion could have been used! In her home I understand. But at the table eating with people for the first time- I personally would have felt uncomfortable.

Re: Call me crazy...

Seriously, not okay by me.

The first time I met DH's extended family in Boston his aunt had her boob out basically the entire weekend. It was ridiculous.

Re: Call me crazy...

In a restaurant is totally inappropriate. Personally, I would feel really uncomfortable breast feeding in front of anyone, especially men, and even more so in public!!!

I used to work in a residential program for pregnant/parenting teens, and this one girl was in the kitchen one day breastfeeding, and I walked in, not knowing, and it was so awkward to see. We decided to make it a house rule that breast feeding was to be done only in private.

Re: Call me crazy...

It is so funny, bc my sister and DH's cousin were so discrete. I am so used to how they found private spaces or covered themselves for their needs or others (not sure which). I can't imagine someone flashing a boob like that!

I agree. If it was a close friend or my sister that's different. I don't think women should have to hide while BF but a bit of discretion in public places or around strangers is just polite me thinks.

Re: Call me crazy...

Personally, I am a bit uncomfortable when that happens. However, I can't really say BFing needs to be done in private or they need to cover up. I mean that's what breasts were made for.

Re: Call me crazy...

In her home I guess I can understand that, but at public restaurant is just not acceptable to me. I used to be a waitress and I'll never forget this. I was taking this woman's order and as she is telling me her order she just starts breastfeeding her baby right in front of me like it was nothing.

Re: Call me crazy...

There are so many products on the market to make breastfeeding convenient and discreet, so I think that in this modern age there's really no need to be popping boobs out for all to see.

I think breast feeding is a beautiful thing but I just feel that there are ways to do it in public (even at a restaurant table) without being exposed.

CRAZY

Chat Icon Sorry I had to lol

I would not mind if my friend did that in front of me, but in front of my DH also Chat Icon and then Chat Icon on the way home.

I would never be comfortable doing that in front of a guy...a close GF I might though.
