Help me with activities for my animal club..
I run an animal club at the middle school I teach in and I'm trying to come up with some new activities this year for my students. Anyone know of any dog walks or activities in Nassau coming up that my kids could participate in? TIA!

Re: Help me with activities for my animal club..
What about visiting the Long Island Game Farm? They are closed for the season from mid-October until about April -- but maybe something to do in the Spring? They usually have an interesting assortment of animals there.
What about doing a volunteer day at a local animal shelter?
While they don't take inexperienced volunteers, you might be able to set up a tour / lecture at a local horse rescue. There is one run by a young woman in Northport that comes to mind. She does a lot of local outreach stuff and I believe has an active interest in educating youth about preventing the neglect and inhumane slaughter of horses. It's called Project Sage. (Not sure if that is too heavy / controversial a topic for the animal club - just throwing ideas out.)
The club could also organize their own dog walk to raise money for a charity. That might be a big undertaking, but probably a fun project for the club.
There is also the aquarium in Riverhead.
