Is anyone else a hypochindriac?

Not a malingerer or someone looking for attention but a true hypochondriac? I get myself so worked up thinking I have all the symptoms of any given disease and I absolutely hate feeling this way!!!

I was just curious if there is anyone else like this??Chat Icon

Used to be. Please stay of of Dr. Google.

The internet did not go to med school.

Once I stopped looking up everything I felt better. I didn't find the need to have control of the things I couldn't control.

In all seriousness.. I am like this completely. I let myself worry over nonsense too. Chat Icon I agree with staying away from google....... but now with internet access on my phone even, it's just SO tempting!!

Re: Is anyone else a hypochindriac?

I am. It's been going on for years now. I've thought I had every disease from every kind of cancer to Lupus to Multiple Sclerosis. I've had tons of bloodwork and xrays and cat scans, and MRIs. I'm so sad and worried all the time because of it. I wish I could find some relief. Sorry you're goign through the same thing Chat Icon

Thanks everyone Chat Icon it helps to know that it is not just me. It all started because I did have a pretty big health issue in my 20's that kind of shook me and ever since I have been painfully aware of my own mortatility.

Re: Is anyone else a hypochindriac?

Yes, I am. It isn't that bad at the moment, BUT I have been known in the past to actually bring on symptoms of the disease I think I have at the moment.

Re: Is anyone else a hypochindriac?

My DH and MIL both.

They will see an ad on TV and are convinced they have it. Recently, I took DH to the doc to have all the regular tests done to check his heart, chest, etc. Doc told him his test came back normal and DH said he is going to keep going back until they find something wrong Chat Icon

It hurts me to always see him feel like he has something "wrong"

Anyone can drive themselves nuts reading everything there is to read online, and usually their source of information is not reliable.

I'm not but my Mom is. Big time. Anytime she reads or hears something, she automatically says she has it...It is hard to deal with...
