**UPDATED AGAIN 2nd INTERVIEW!!**

So I went on an interview almost 2 weeks ago. They told me that they will be interviewing for 2 weeks, so going by that they will be done the end of this week. I did send a thank you immediately following my interview. I think it went really well, but the hiring manager was so casual, personable and friendly that maybe everyone who was interviewed felt that way!

When I left she also said please call me if you have any questions, but I didn't want to kiss her *** or bother her so I didn't! What sort of questions did she think I would ask?

Anyway, I plan to follow up with both her and the recruiter. Should I do it by email or phone? When should I do it this Friday or next Monday? I just want to let them know I'm still interested and of course want to see where they are in the process. It's a large institution, they didn't contact me to schedule and interview for over a month after I sent my resume. I know that obviously if they plan to hire me they will let me know about checking references but I'm anxious and don't want to lose this opportunity Chat Icon

Re: Interview Follow-up

Yes, but HR told me they would let me know prior to contacting them.

Re: Interview Follow-up

If your more comfortable writing a brief email then I'd drop a follow up note expressing your sincere interest in the role and your enthusiasm for the opportunity (referring to something you spoke about in the interview). Mention in your note that you'll follow up with a phone call in a couple of days.

This way you'll get 2 opps to connect Chat Icon

(Of course, if your comfortable calling go ahead and do that first. If you don't hear back you can follow up with an email in a couple of days.)

Re: Interview Follow-up

Thanks, my sister was totally against sending a follow up email or call, she said it's like a relationship, if a guy likes you he'll call you and don't bother him LOL.

But, today I just had this nagging feeling to do it, and I couldn't resist. As I mentioned before, the hiring manager was a very "warm" person, the interview was casual and a bit on the informal side and it went on for a full hour, so I was comfortable enough to check-in with her. She had also mentioned to me before I left that if I had any questions to please feel free to call her. I just felt like you never know, I don't have much to lose (either way this short follow up won't make or break their decision) and maybe something will come up in the future and she'll remember me.

My email was:

Dear Ms. X:

I hope this email finds you well. I was interviewed on September 3rd for the XX position and I am wondering where you might be in the hiring process. Once again it was great to sit and talk with you about the Program and I wanted express my sincere interest in this position.

Best Regards,

XX

Her response was:

Hi XX,

We are still in the process of making decisions. Thank you for sending the inquiry. I will keep you abreast of the process.

All the best,
XX

So, very vague but she did say she will keep me posted of the process.

hmm...yes, kind of vague. but she didn't say anything like that they've decided on another candidate, so that's a good thing. :)

Re: UPDATED in new post: Interview Follow-up

So, still never heard back about the job...I got the guts to finally call the HR person, I actually called several times over about 1 week and she NEVER answered her phone, so finally I left her a brief message saying my name, the position name, when I was interviewed and that I was just following up to find out the status of the position. About 24 hrs later I get a call back from her (my damn phone doesn't get great service in my office so I missed the call Chat Icon ) but she left a message and just said "give me a call back when you get a chance". Ugh, so I called her back and also said "when you return my call let me know if email is better for you". So, of course I'm analyzing this now, would she bother to return my call if the position was filled?

Waiting stinks!!

Re: **UPDATED in new post**: Interview Follow-up

I actually think she is going to tell you a decision hasn't been made yet. Could be she didn't call back immediately because she didn't have further information for you.

Either way I hope she calls you back and tells you what's up.

Re: **UPDATED AGAIN 2nd interview!!**

Okay, she never called me back again BUT someone else did and I got a 2nd interview for next week!!!!

This time it sounds more intimidating, a panel of 2 Directors/1 Chairperson! Now I wonder how many people they are bringing back.

Better go study and find out about these big guys!
