Is this safe - dog pulling on leash?
So we have a dog that has some issues and i want to start training him now to avoid issues when LO arrives.
I know how important it is for daily walks - but our dog pulls really hard when hes on the leash - is that safe for me? Hes only about 15lbs but hes quite strong and i have to really pull him back.
Has anyone ever discussed this with their dr? Im seeing mine in 2 weeks so i'll ask her then but just wondering what others have found out.
Thanks

i don't let my dog go forward until he stops pushing. it took time and patience to train that (and he still pulls whenever he sees cats or squirrels), but it's not good to let a dog pull!

Yes, it's fine for you, i wouldn't even think twice about it. It's more an issue for your dog.

but is it harmful to me? hes not gonna stop immediately when im training him - it will take time so in the mean time can it hurt me that he pulls?

No, I think you will be fine, especially since your dog is only 15lbs.
My dog is 70lbs... he's leash trained, but will occasionally jolt if he sees another dog or squirrel or something. I never even thought twice about it.

I would think it's totally fine. My dog is 60 lbs and she's not a huge puller, but she pulls occasionally. I can't imagine it being harmful to you.
2nd time moms they have babies that they carry and play with and it's not harmful. Don't worry about it hurting you, but train the puppy so it's not a bigger issue when you have a stroller

Are you using a head halter collar? It's really helped my dog stop pulling so much.

i dont see why not... as long as there is no thread of the dog pulling you to the ground
