Recent BFP- a few Qs- Mini update
I'm a fairly regular poster but am in hiding right now. I've had a loss in my past and am very nervous to come out just yet. I recently had a chemical pregnancy and got pregnant the following cycle.
I'm waiting for my doctor's office to call me back. I have called them 2xs in the past 24 hours in regards to blood work and a backache.
My question is whether or not anyone has had a sore back in early pregnancy. I have had a dull back ache since yesterday. Similar to a stiff neck, but in my back, KWIM? Nothing stabbing or burning, just sore and achy. Also I've had brown spotting on and off since my BFP on wednesday. From what I'm reading, that is normal too. I guess I'm just worried because I have the back problem and some brown spotting.
FWIW, this isn't my first pregnancy. I already have 1 DC. Could that have anything to do with it?
TIA Can't wait to chat with you all.
Update:
Doctor finally called around 4:30. I am scheduled for a beta & progesterone level on Monday & Wednesday I didn't have the balllls to ask him to just call it in so I could go this afternoon.
I mentioned occasional brown spotting and how it didn't really concern me but the back ache did and he says "well, whenever you have spotting and pain, there's always the risk of an ectopic pregnancy". What?!?!?!? I wasn't ready for that. So then I start crying. I asked if he thought it was okay and it was just a precaution and he says "well, we can never say for sure". He told me if it gets unbearable to go to the ER; he's on call all weekend. But- because it's so early they probably wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Good God, help me.
As the day progressed, the pain didn't go away but it did ease up a bit. It feels more like a stiff neck. From what I saw online, my pain doesn't really match the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy. It really just feels like a dull ache and hurts all down my back when I touch my chin to my chest. Strangely enough, it got worse when I passed out in bed with my DC. Maybe I just have a crappy mattress?

Re: Recent BFP- a few Qs
My entire first trimester i had HORRIBLE lower back pains. I could not walk more than 2 feet without having to sit down. I had back spasms all the time. It started out as a dull pain in my lower back the first few weeks. I called my RE and he said it is perfectly normal. Things are stretching getting ready for the baby to grow.
I also bled for 3 weeks during my first trimester. Sometimes it was brown, sometimes it was red. My Dr. said he would not be concerned as long as it was not accompanied by severe cramping. I'm 25w6d with twins and everything is great. Congratulations!!!!!!!

With my first pregnancy, I didn't have ANY back pain. This is so strange- and to have this pain so early? Odd... I wish someone would call me from my doctor so I could relax a bit
Thank you for sharing! Congrats on your twins. What a blessing :O)

Re: Recent BFP- a few Qs
I didn't have any back pain with my first PG, but with this one I had it from before I even knew I was PG until about 6 weeks. I also had spotting from about 5-6 weeks.
The spotting is totally normal and I think the back pain is pretty common too.
Congratulations!!

Re: Recent BFP- a few Qs
Just wanted to say I had 2 CP's before getting PG this time and am in hiding like you for the same reason.
I never had back pain but I felt completely different with this pregnancy than I did with the two previous CP's.

Re: Recent BFP- a few Qs
I've had pretty consistent back pain this whole pregnancy (I'm 13 weeks).
I'm also pretty sure brown spotting is common. It is referred to as "old blood" I think.
Sticky dust to you!

Just realized!!! For the last 2 weeks, my lower back has been really stiff. Whenever I would get up from sitting too long or bending over I'd be in such pain trying to right myself. I felt like a 90yo woman hobbling around sometimes... How strange... maybe this is normal after all.
Thank you for sharing that!
