lung/liver oncologists needed

Hi
I am looking for a recommendation for a great lung and liver cancer oncologist. I am asking for a friend who really has zero leads.

The family would like treatments at North Shore Manhasset or LI Jewish please.

Thanks so much

Dr. Stuart Lichman. I think that's it.

My aunt goes to him. He's a lung onc and breast and geriatric mostly but should be able to help.

He's out of Commack Sloan Kettering.

Not sure if he practices in LIJ/NorthShore.

Dr. Bhoomi Mehrotra, LIJ 516-470-8934

Diagnosed and treated MIL's lung cancer for 4 years.
Excellent communicator, very patient, can be aggressive in treatments.

My mom goes to Dr. Fiore in Commack Sloan Kettering. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung/brain cancer in 2007 and is in FULL remission now. He saved her life. IMHO I would recommend that your friend go to Sloan Kettering...Many Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon to you and your friend.

I have heard so many great things about that place but they do not take the medical coverage the patient has. It would be great for them too since they live right there. I hope your mom continues to be in good health, God bless her!

I'm sorry to hear that sloan is not covered. I find it surprising.

Sometimes if the best treatment available is at a facility that is not covered insurance companies make special allowances.

is it worth looking into?

They are meeting 2 people this week. If they are not happy they just may explore other options and call and ask. Figure it doesn't hurt to just ask. Thanks so much.

Re: lung/liver oncologists needed

Years ago my mom had a brain tumor.

The best doctor at Stonybrook in her plan scared the bejesus out of us. He had done the surgery 2x before.

She had a large mengioma (sp)not cancer.

Our regular GP fought the insurance co with us and got permission to go outside of the network and had it done with a doctor that had done it a zillion times.

The outcome and prognosis was far better because of this.

Good luck.
