Tutoring jobs-those who've had success please read
If you have or had a paying tutoring job, how did you market yourself? I put the poll, but any advice or info would be very helpful.

I don't tutor, but DH does. Most of his jobs come from recommendations from his colleagues and word of mouth.

Through word of mouth in my district and teacher recommendations. Took a long time to get my first, the rest came a lot easier.

I have done it in the past and did it through my school guidance dept.
I do it through the summer, and mine also come through my school- through our learning services department.

When I did it in college I got jobs from a few different places. Some students were from Craigslist, some were word of mouth and some were family friends whose children needed help. However, I got the most referrals from a guidance counselor I knew. She referred a number of the students who were struggling with their homework over to me.
