I think I need a new OB--Suffolk girls, help me out!
Had a really bad experience last night at the first OB appt (with the NP, who isn't a mid-wife/doesn't deliver) but if she's any inidcation of the practice, not happy! I am looking for a smaller practice (2-3 practicioners), in Suffolk, with evening and/or Saturday hours. At this point, I'll take delivery at any hospital EXCEPT Southside and whatever they call that one in Riverhead these days. If you are happy with your OB and they meet my "demand" pls, do share. BTW: this was San Roman's office in PJS where I was last night...so not there, LOL! TIA!

Dr. Pillitteri in Deer Park. It's just him and his sister, the NP, so its a small/busy office. He delivers at Good Sam and Southside.

Im really surprised you had a bad experience there. I went to that practice before I had t go t an RE for DD#1 and I loved it there!!!!!!!!
They stopped taking my insurance while I was with the RE, so I had to switch.
I now see Arato and Blazsyzk on 347 behind the mall. They deliver at St charles or Stonybrook. There is one nurse that can be crabby but other than that, I like it there and they were great to me with DD

Wow, I switched to this practice at the end of my 1st trimester and have been very happy there. Can I ask what happened that turned you off?

Sure. Honestly, all the office staff were very nice, I do have to say! I saw Susan Howard (who I had previosuly seen for annual check ups as a GYN pateint) and she just seemed so out of touch with a lot of things. She had never heard of the meds I was on to conceive (Gonal-F and Luveris) and I had to spell them, several times. I'm sorry but in this day and age fertility meds should not be so foreign to OB/GYN practicioners. Then, apparently she didn't read the update to my chart and almsot fell over when she saw my Luvonox bruised up belly. I had to tell her I wrote it as a med change. She basically freaked out and said I'd have to have my next visit with the doctor...ok, fine, prefer midwives but whatever...then this took the cake. She said I would f/u with the Dr in 4 weeks. DH expressed that should I be seen sooner since she was unfamiliar with traing me and isn't 4 weeks too long if she felt it so impartant for me to see the dr. She said she'd review it with the dr and get back to me. So, she calls today and says: "I can get you in sooner for a sono, as per your husbands concern"...his concerne wasn't the sono, I still get them from the RE. His concern was seeing the doctor sooner. So, anyway, not impressed. I still have the visit set with the doctor, maybe he'll impress me more?

Wow, I acbsolutely LOVE that office ( and Dr.San Roman specifically)...I myself have never had an appt. with Susan, but I assure you that if you express your concerns w/ Dr. San Roman himself, you may be pleasently suprised ( his brothers office was my RE so he is well versed in IF issues)
Hope everything works out for you

Wow yeah, I'd give them another chance. i came to them as an IF patient on lovenox and had no issues at all. My first two appointments were with Michelle (the midwife) and she was very knowledgeable. Like Bops said, Dr. San Roman's brother is an RE (he was mine - got me pregnant 3x) and is well versed in fertility meds and procedures. Every 4 weeks is standard in the first 2 trimesters, but I'd be honest and say you would like to see the dr. before then because of your concerns. Also for future appointments you can make sure you don't see the NP. Sorry you had such a bad experience

I was actually going to recommend this practice to you. I am thrilled at this office. I love love love it there. I transferred there from Suffolk OB and I am so much happier. I am so sorry that you had a bad experience there. I wonder if you schedule another appt there you will be happier? Maybe she was having an off day? Dr. San Roman is a doll. I love him. Maybe try and give it one more shot.
