when would you test?

i'm probably getting ahead of myself here, but since this is my 1st month off the pill i have no idea how long my cycle should be. i haven't started charting yet because i was traveling and i figured my temps wouldn't be that accurate. how many days since the start of my last period should i wait to test if AF doesn't show up? you start counting the 1st day of your period, right? should i start charting now even though i "think" i have less than a week until i should get AF? i was on the pill for so long i don't even remember how long or how regular my cycles were before.

The best thing to do is wait til your AF is a day late. That being said, pretty much ALL of us test earlier (we're obsessed). The edd has to implat before your body released hormones into your body and will get picked up by an HPT. Some people say 10dpo is the earliest. But then again some PG women get BFN all along until after AF is due. It depends on how obsessed you are but to avoid the disappointment of BFN, wait as long as you can, best to wait til the day after AF is due.

Also start keeping track of the length of your cycles...I used to think mine was the exact same # of days each month - boy was I wrong!! Charting your BBT each day is a great way tpo keep track of your cycle.

"Taking Charge of your Fertility" is an excellent book and a lot of us have read it -its really helpful and will explain a ton of stuff to you.

thanks kathy! i have tcoyf and it's such a great book. i would wait until AF is late, but the problem is i have no idea when she is due to arrive! i'm sure she'll be here any day so i'm probably just worrying about nothing! next month i am definitely going to start charting.
