Not sure what to do from here?
I have had two miscarriages in the past 3 months and I am not sure what my next steps should be. Both miscarriages were natural. I had a miscarriage in August at just about 10 weeks, that was diagnosed as a blighted ovum. I then found out I was pregnant again before even having AF. The reason for the Miscarriage I had in October is undetermined.I was at about 6 weeks. I have made an appointment with an RE with the advice of a friend. I am just not sure if that should be my next step or should I stay with my OBGYN and have the tests done that he wants me to have. I have been so emotional and I just dont want to start seeing a different doctor if it is not the best thing to do at this point. Sorry if this post is so long. I just so nervous after having 2 miscarriages that I may never get a BFP again.

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
The best decision I ever made was going to an RE.
IMO RE's are more thorough than OB's and not only do they test and check for more things but they are better equipped to handle the issues they may find. Their job is to work with these issues... where as an OB's job is different.
So I say stick with the RE.

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I am so sorry for your losses.
I had two losses last year too, 1st at around 8-9 weeks and the 2nd at 6 weeks. My obgyn sugegsted I continue to try and if it happens a third time to see a RE. Well there was NO WAY I was going to let this happen a 3rd time before getting answers....I WENT RIGHT TO A RE.
I am so happy I did. They found a few things I had like MTHFR, Annexin, and Protein S....all thrombo issues, that could possible lead to blood clots. They were certain this was the cause of my M/C's but at this point we wanted to be as proactive and aggressive as possible. They had me start on BA, Metanx, and Lovenox injection during my 2ww and continue on through pregnancy.
I am now 34 weeks pregnant with the help of a RE and the right meds.
I remember being so defeated after my 2nd loss. It was the worst time in my life. My advice is continue to stay hopeful and dont give up. Eventually it will all work out. You just need to work with a good Dr and you will be on your way to a successful pregnancy.
I have seen atleat 10 + women on this board who have all had two or more losses and now all have a healthy pregnancy or baby already.
Please feel free to FM with any questions.

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I had 3 MCs in the first 6 mos of 2009 - 4wks, 5wks, 7wks. After the 2nd I had the blood panel done with my OB and they said I had MTFHR but not the type that causes MC. I had been charting and knew I had a short luteal phase so I suspected that was the issue. OB put me on Folgard and baby aspirin and had me come in for a progesterone test at 7DPO the next time we tried. She also suggested an HSG but I put that off and wound up with MC#3. At that point, I consulted an RE, had the HSG and started a monitored cycle. RE did nothing but monitor me that month but he obviously brought me luck because I got PG and it stuck... that little miracle is 5 mos old now! We still have no idea what/why everything happened the way it did.
As bride07 mentioned, there are a lot of us in this "club" and lots of us have new babies or are expecting soon so please take solace in that. I know hearing others people's success stories helped me when I was going through it. Based on my experience, I'd go to the RE now. I wished I went after my second one instead of waiting for the third...

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I had 2 miscarriages within a 3 month time span.
Cant help you with the OB vs. RE decision. I think you just have to go with your gut feeling.
I know it feels like it will never happen and you are feeling defeated. But try and stay positive.
I had 2 miscarriages, followed by 2 healthy pregnancies. After the second miscarriage I really started to think it would never happen for me. I now cant believe I am going to be a mommy of 2 under 2.
Sometimes miscarriages are just crappy luck!

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
First, i am soooo sorry for your losses. I had a blighted ovum and then another mc at around 6 weeks. I went to Madonna Perinatal Services
(516) 747-4616. They have other offices. They are high risk pregantcy drs, and he was soooo good. I felt so calm and confident there. They do a BIG blood work up and they did a saline sono for me (doesnt hurt). I found out i have a blood clotting issue and thryoid antibodies. I take baby aspirin daily and need to see an endo to monitor my levels.
I would definitely see a specialist...OB/gyn don't know enough about it. Get the big blood work up. It's a lot of blood, but maybe you'll get some answers.

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I only had 1 miscarriage but because the results from the genetic testing came back as normal I am being tested to see if there was an underlying cause for that miscarriage that could cause a second micarriage. I am under the care of my OB as well as a Peri and they sent me for testing to check horomone levels and antibody/blood clotting disorders. It sounds like the same testing the others have mentioned.
Both doctors said that it could just be a case of bad luck and unfortunately they were both realistic with us and said it can happen again nex time. They also said next time can be fine. I'm glad they are doing the testing and maybe something will come of it that will save a future pregnancy. Right now I'm waiting for results.
We are trying again once I have my third menstruation. I was told to wait 3 cycles by both doctors and both were pretty adamant about that.
If I were you I would have these tests done either through your OB or a specialist. I wouldn't wait to see what happens next time. I'm glad my doctors didn't just tell me to try again knowing there could be a problem with me. I know there is still a chance I will miscarry again but at least I'm a step ahead with the testing.
Good luck

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I had 4 m/c's. I stayed with my regular OB for emotional reasons. Looking back, I wonder if that was the wrong choice and if maybe I could have been helped earlier if I had gone to a specialist. It took me 7 1/2 yrs to have another baby.

Re: Not sure what to do from here?
I had 4 pregnancy losses prior to seeing an immne specialist and getting IVF which resulted in my healthy twin 2 yr old boys. I then had one loss after in which I was not being treated for anything.
