Yes, I am a regular member/poster, but I am too embarrassed
to post under my regular SN.
Okay, since I had my DC (just 1) down there just has not been the same in terms of bladder control.
I am always worried about basically peeing in my pants. It seriously sucks, if I laugh to hard, sneeze, and cough, I swear it just comes out and I can't control it.
This past summer, I was walking with my mom and we started laughing so hard and I totally peed in my pants. I was so mortified, thank GOD I was with my mom.
I used to love to exercise and take classes, but for the last 2 1/2 yrs, I avoid exercising with groups of people or even friends because I am so worried about running or jumping and leaking everywhere. When I do run, I only run alone now.
I am pregnant with my 2nd and yes it is worse.
What I am wondering and hoping, is after I am done having children, can this be fixed by surgery?
I know I have heard other woman complain about this, but I seriously think I have a bad case.
Ladies, is this normal? I am so worried about after I have the 2nd in a few short months and how much worse it is going to be.
Has anyone had surgery to fix this problem?
Yes, I have tried Kegels, it hasn't helped.
edited for spelling

Re: Yes, I am a regular member/poster, but I am too embarrassed
My coworker had it done...it was outpatient. She was out in recovery for about 3 weeks. She said it was the best thing she ever did for herself.
Now I'm not embarrassed, cause a lot of woman have this problem after childbirth. If you can imagine, I had my daughter at 19 and i have peed my pants since then!! If I run, sneeze, laugh..you name it, I pee! If I go out, I almost always have to wear a pantyliner, or else.
Once I'm done having kids, I will get the surgery. If you are done, then go for it.

Thank you for sharing. Do you know what the surgery is called?
I am guessing you need to get a referral by your Dr too, to a specialist?
Not sure if I am done having kids after this one, but I am actually thinking of having the next one sooner, just so I can get this fixed.

don't be embarrassed
For the first 6 months after I had DS, I had bad bladder control. I don't think my problem was severe and it did eventually get better, but you should definitely talk to your OB about it or see a specialist.

Re: Yes, I am a regular member/poster, but I am too embarrassed
My mom just got the surgery, and it didn't work for her. She has a tilted uterus and she thinks her bladder could be tilted too (I have no idea if there's even such a think ). I think her doctor said it works for MOST women, she was just the exception.
How many kegels are you doing? I followed the Bradley method and they said to do 200 kegels a day. How many are you doing? Did it help at all?
ETA: I've had a few accidents since DS was born (he's 5 months). I'm trying to do Kegels like crazy to get my bladder back to normal, because I know I will end up needing the surgery if I don't strengthen it.

You can also ask your Dr about a pessary, which is a non surgical option.

Uro-Gynecologists specialize in this. It's common.

I do this too!
Nothing to be embarrassed about. I didnt have this problem after DS #1 but after DS #2 it was annoying for the first 6 mo. or so. I wouldnt full on pee my pants but if I sneezed, coughed or laughed sometimes I would piddle I think I posted about it once. Now that DS is a year it has gotten better. My mom also has this problem because I think her uterus tilted after having me.

Re: Yes, I am a regular member/poster, but I am too embarrassed
Get a recommendation for a urogynocologist. I have a severe prolapse that will require surgery. My incontinence isn't bad, but I am very uncomfortable otherwise.
The fact that you've had to make major changes to your life to accomodate the incontinence definitely warrants some sort of intervention. There is NO reason to live that way.
Please fm me if you want to hear my experience.
