Menstural Cycle/Diet-Exercise

Has anyone noticed a change in their menstrual cycle since starting a new exercise routine or diet plan?

I'm near day 60 of the p90x program and my menstural cycle is off. I'm actually a week late now.

If you have experienced this, did you cut back, eat more or both. Did it eventually get back to normal?

TIA!

i think it's with any "stress" change on your body. P90x is pretty hardcore. It happened to me after surgery and i thought i was pregnant because I was 6 days late and never had been that late before... but it turns out it was just related to the stress that surgery put on my body. So i could see a hardcore exercise program doing the same.

i bet it regulates over time.

YES! Any significant amount of weight loss/gain and/or a workout program that is different to your system will absolutely change your menstural cycle. Don't be worried!

I've had the opposite happen. I didn't have normal periods for years until I started working out. I think it helped regulate my hormones & now I've been getting my period almost every month (which for me, is a big improvement!).

Same thing for me. I actually have PCOS and since losing weight and exercise I get my period every 28-32 days which is a miracle for me. I used to get it anywhere from every 40-50 days and sometimes even 60. Which on one end was kind of nice but I kept running out to buy pregnancy tests and it was all very stressful. So happy to have normal periods now!

Absolutely! I've been working out for about 9 months and my period hasn't been the same since! I think it's actually gotten worse! AND I'm on the pill!
