WWYD?

I have a casual friend whose 2 sons are the same ages as mine (7 and 5). Our 5 year olds are super cute friends and love having playdates.

My 7 year old cannot STAND her 7 year old. They are completely different kids, nothing in common, my son has told me MORE than once that he DOES NOT LIKE the other boy and does not want to have playdates with him. He is violent, mean, and rude.

The 5 year olds have playdates, and she always asks if we can "switch kids". She will take my 5 year old and send over her 7 year old or vice versa. I have managed to dodge it so far with excuses, but am running out of them.

WWYD?
I am at a loss because the little ones are such good friends and I do not want to ruin their friendship by telling the mom flat out that my son does not want to play with hers.

I think you need to find a tackful way of telling her that the boys don't play well together if you want to stop them.

I have seen many playdates have a great time & then a horrible time depending on the kid's moods. If it's consistent, then you should address it.

How busy is your 7 yr old? Maybe you could tell your friend that his schedule is just too much right now and you can't fit anything else in. Just because the older ones don't want to play, does not mean the younger ones can't.

I agree with this.

I would do that also, just try to say let's just do the 5 yr olds and my 7 yr old has something else to do..
If all else fails, come clean and say that "I don't think they are getting along right now, let's let them take a break".
