Fleas on the cat!

My cat is a huge fur ball and his hair is very thick. Last night I found fleas on him! I don't think giving him a flea bath will work b/c his hair is so thick and I don't think it will get all the way down to his scalp (is that what its called on a cat? lol). Do I bring him to the vet? Or, a groomer to have him shaved?

Call the vet. I just went through a small bout of fleas with my dog. There's a pill they have for dogs (though we didn't go this route-we treated with Advantix), I'd think there might be something similar for cats, but have no clue. Your vet can tell you. I wouldn't bother with a flea bath. I hear they're very harsh and don't usually work well anyway.

You dont need a flea bath or to SHAVE you cat (no way). Just take him to the vet to get him flea meds that will kill and control fleas. If you do not do this, be assured you will have a large flea problem that will spiral out of control. You must get meds from your vet asap to kill AND control fleas from reproducing.

No way, shaving your cat won't do anything!
Frontline works great. Go to the vet to see what he recommends. Take care of it as soon as you can before it becomes a major issue.

There is a pill they can give cats. When we first got Disney the vet gave us one. She has fleas again (how the heck an indoor cat gets fleas I have no idea since she has shown NO signs in a year of having them ). We're using some frontline my best friend had from when she first got her cats along with some of the natural products out there.

We gave my VERY VERY furry cat a flea bath and frontline.

Then I had to de-flea the house!!!
