Joining you ladies...
DH and I went in for our 8 week sono 2 weeks ago and they could only find an empty sac. Our repeat sono today confirmed a blighted ovum. We are both devastated. This was our first pregnancy. I'm going to be speaking to the dr. on Monday to see if I can wait for my body to m/c on its own or if I need to have a d&c. Someone also mentioned that there are meds you can take to induce the m/c. Does anyone have any experience with these? Thanks.

Re: Joining you ladies...
I had a blighted ovum and began to miscarry on my own. It wasn't very long after I was diagnosed with a B/O that I miscarried. I am so sorry to hear that you are going thru this. It does start to get easier with everyday that passes.

Re: Joining you ladies...
Yes there are drugs that you can take to bring it on. My doctor gave me the option of taking the drugs or doing the D & C. I elected to do the D & C because my miscarriage happened slowly over a four week period. Things got progressively worse at every appointment I went to on a weekly basis and I just wanted it over with at the time. Before I made it to my D & C that was scheduled for Tuesday, I miscarried on my own on Sunday. So you should ask your doctor what your options are. I was 10 weeks, but the baby was only measuring 6 weeks in the end so I didn't not have a difficult time with the actual miscarriage. Good luck with your decision. I'm very sorry.

Re: Joining you ladies...
i am so sorry i've had a d&c and i can assure you it's not as bad as you would think. i had a lot of bleeding for about a day after but that was the worst of it. sadly, the emotional recovery is much harder than the physical recovery with m/c. if you have any questions, please feel free to FM me. lots of prayers for you and DH

Re: Joining you ladies...
I'm so sorry I was given the option of methotrexate (shot) or a d&c, I chose the d&c because I did not want to have to wait the 3 month waiting period after the shot to be able to try again. I would talk to your dr and see what your options are. I was also told that in the event that after the d&c my beta dud not go all the way down (it did) that I would then need the shot but I took my chances. I wound up needed a laporotomy w the d&c bc they thought it mint be ectopic so I can't really comment on the recovery bc I had both surgeries at once but I didn't really bleed much after. Hang in there

Re: Joining you ladies...
So sorry to hear about your loss. First you need to see where your beta #'s are? If they are not high enough they may not recommend a D&C. I have had 3 consecutive misscarriages. My first and last I misscarried naturally and they both happend pretty quickly as I was only 5-6 wks. The second I was about 7 wks and my beta was 28,000 so they needed to do the D&C. The good thing about the D&C is they can do a pathology report to see "why" you misscarried, most likely it will be an abnormal chromosome which is common and can happen to anyone at any age but your chances are higher the older you get. I hope this infor helps and again I am so sorry, but try and stay positive you will get pregnant again. My best to you and your DH.

So Sorry to hear of your loss. It's def a hard thing to handle... more emotionally than physically. I had a D&C and it was not bad at all... a little bleeding the day of and it stopped after that day.
