Re: New York Hospitals
I delivered at NYU - it was a madhouse, but it is a very good hospital. I really don't know much about the others.

Re: New York Hospitals
Don't know much about the hospitals mentioned but Lenox Hill is good. One of my best friends delivered her kids there.

Re: New York Hospitals
I do not know for maternity purposes but I do know that NY Presbyterian is one of the best hospitals in the country. I had to have major surgery there and was seen by all the best doctors in their field.

Re: New York Hospitals
I delivered in Columbia presbyterian, excellent when it comes to labor and delivery but when you are recovering, the nurses leave a lot to be desired.

Same here! We choose Columbia because it has the best NICU (I had many complications with my daughter) in the NY area. Thankfully, we didn't have to find out the hard way!

Re: New York Hospitals
I was in the L&D room when my SIL was in labor at Columbia Presbyterian. She may have been in a high risk ward - she overlooked the city. For the most part, the nurses were absolutely great. They have the top pediatric cardiologists there - so you have a very competent staff on hand if necessary.
I can say that parking is a ***** there & pretty expensive after awhile.
I would also post on urbanbaby.com for opinions. It's mainly NYC moms.

Re: New York Hospitals
I delivered at Cornell and the experience was pretty good... Especially while I was delivering. I had a private room and they were awesome about visitors. FM if you want any more information. I have heard excellent things about Sinai...

Re: New York Hospitals
We have a good friend who just delivered at Cornell and had a great experience. We have friends who delivered at Mt. Sinai as well. Mt. Sinai has excellent medical care - one of our friend's had a baby born at 31 weeks, and the NICU was amazing - but apparently the nursing staff wasn't very good. My MIL had surgery there as well (obviously not in the Maternity ward) and it was not the best experience. I talked to a few friends who are doctors and had rotated through Sinai and Cornell, and they all preferred Cornell. Don't know much/anything about Columbia or NYU.
