Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
all he has is christmas eve pjs.
I am looking for stuff but my eyes are glazing over.
he just got a bunch of toys for hs birthday.
but truth be told, he'd has more fun walking around the house holding something in his hand.
he'll sit every so often with his music table or his kitchen, and he'll stand and play with the frig magnets...but that is about it.
he has a few ride on toys that he likes the music to but doesn't really "ride" yet.
he loves to dance. loves music.
just started to like to "write".
I don't want to waste money buying stuff he's not really going to play with.
but, I want him to have presents.
bah. bah humbug.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
all i have is the moose & zee doll from nick...i have to go through some flyers i have for the toys I want to get.
DS would also rather walk around the house with the empty tv remote or play with his blocks.
Im going to get a few learning toys and blocks, maybe a train thing..but im not going nuts b/c he's 1..and the rest of my family im sure will buy him tons of stuff that I wont have any idea of what to do with.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
maybe some toys that he is too old for right now, but since his bday and christmas wont roll around for roughly another year, items that he will be able to play with in 6-8 months or so? Like bigger boy toys?
What about signing him up for lessons of some sort, or a class, or activity instead?
What about if you get him a copy of the NY Times or any newspaper from the day he was born as a keepsake item?

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I have the same problem.. he'd rather run around the house yelling.. lol.
I ordered him a bubble machine for the bath to keep him occupied a little more.. and a sand/water table for the summer...that's it so far.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I have nothing bought for either child yet - for DD who is 4 1/2 I will start soon but only so I can pin her down on what she wants ....for DS who is 16 months I will probably just buy him a few small things as he is going to end up playing with all of DD's stuff. You have plenty of time left. Its not even december yet.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I got him a couple of things that he is a little too young for now, but will likely be ready for in another couple of months or so, like wooden puzzles and the zany zoo. I also got him a play kitchen and some clothes like the sushi shirt

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
We have nothing yet. Don't really know what to get. Not feeling excited about it, not sure why. The only thing I knew to get was a little tikes slide/gym set we could use indoors since that is something he likes. My mom and dad then said they would get it and when it was on Kohl's.com for $59 vs $129 at TRU, we told them about it and they got it.
I have been wanting to actually go to TRU in person, that way i can maybe get excited about things to buy him.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
Can I recommend two toys if he doesn't have them.
Mozart Music Cube (my kids still love this and they are 5 and 2)
Fisher Price Busy Ball Popper (again still played with after 5 years)

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I am just about to write another thread about this. We have stuff for JJ but it is mainly "sports themed" as he is an avid baseball kid...Plus he loves to play with household items (tupperware, wooden spoons, colander)
I feel terrible because we have NOTHING for Nicholas

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I haven't gotten them anything yet. I usually wait until the week before Christmas because I get some insane deals. Plus I only get them 5 toys each so there isn't very much to buy

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
What about stuff for outside...a swing, a slide, a climbing cube, a sandbox. He can enjoy them now and as he grows into them.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
I got Aiden a whole bunch of stuff from Gymboree -- the play parachute, musical instruments, the play tunnels, bubbles. I also got him a wobbles play set and I will be getting him a portable dvd player -- I want my TV back lol. I want to get him a few more toys -- he loves Elmo, Diego and Care Bears so along those lines.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
Last year she was 11 months and I got her maybe 3 or 4 things.
She was spoiled rotten elsewhere.
I got her the cube thing, a leapfrog learning book a vteach nursery rhyme book thing.
She plays with them more now (almost a year later).
This year is WAY easier. She still isnt into "toys" much but she likes certain things and shows now.

Re: Anyone have NOTHING for their child yet?
Me! DD has so much stuff already. And she doesn't play with most of it. She is only 19 months old but she doesn't "need" anything. And she has more than enough clothes. I just don't know what to get her.
