How far along in your pregnancy were you when you found out you were having twins?

7 weeks, I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks where they said boy this baby has a strong heartbeat. and they say a shadow adn thought it was old blood. Who knew it was 2?

7 weeks at first ultrasound (my doctor would not see me before then). They thought they detected two heartbeats and sent me to a higher tech sonogram machine and there they were clear as day.

The reason why I was asking is b/c I have twins in my family. When I first found out I was pregnant I had a feeling I was going to have fraternal twins.. I went to my 6 week ultrasound and there was only one heartbeat- so I guess my instinct about twins was wrong. It must be so exciting have twins- especially boy/girl twins.

I don't mean to be rude, but why are girl/boy twins more exciting? I got this alot when I was pregnant and it really feels crappy for people to not be as excited with same sex twins. All babies regardless of sex should be exciting. Not one moreso then the other.

i also agree. when i told everyone i was having boy/girl they were saying how great that was and i thought would it not have been great had it been 2 boys or 2 girls?
i also have gotten the comment multiple times from people "what if its 2 boys". What the heck? Am I supposed to send one off for adoption?

I don't think the comment was meant to offend anyone...
Each of my siblings had twins - one set of and another identical . They were both equally exciting!
Although, the first set of twins was a little more scary because they were actually triplets born 20 years ago before all of our medical advances.

I didnt think the comment was meant to offend anyone. But often times people dream to have a and a . So for those who are blessed with twins, one and one , can be seen as such an exciting and wonderful blessing because you get the gift of both sexes at once. But it doesnt negate the fact that or is less exciting.
I think we can all agree that being able to conceive and deliver a healty baby is the most exciting and wonderful gift that God has blessed woman with.

I just don't get it, you say you don't mean to insult but still say one set is better.

I never said one is better than the other!!!!!!!!!! All I said that if I was blessed to have twins, I would prefer to have boy/girl. Obviously I would be thrilled to be able to have twins
babyboy. I am still praying that I am even lucky enough to have one healthy child. I am a nurse in pediatrics, and I see more terrible things than you can imagine, and anyone who has a healthy child is blessed.
