WWYD?!!!!!
There is a 5th grade boy on our bus who I must also tell you is the son of one of my best friends. Last week my daughter (who is the same age) came home ot tell me that this boy was telling a 1st grade boy on the bus to have sex with him (he doesn;t know what it actually is, but was referring to "humping"), he aso told the boy to grab his private part and other kids' private parts ont he bus. In addition, he kissed his brother on the lips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend is acting like I am blowing all of this out of proportion, and that this is normal boy behavior ("boys grab each other"). I am sooo bothered by this and I am actually worried for my friend's son (why is he so sexually focused, did something happen to him?!!!! ) What do you think, normal boy behavior or not? He told this 1st grader to touch my daughter's private area and that is what sent my daughte rinto a tail spin and came home so upset. TIA

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
That does not sound like normal boy behavior to me. i would be very concerned about the boy and why he is acting out in this way. We had a similar incident at my school this week and now ACS is involved

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
That is NOT normal behavior at all. I took a class on sexual abuse and it went over what's normal or not. That isn't normal and I would by concerned why the boy is acting out in such a way.

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
It sounds over the top & I'd be concerned. My son is only in 4th bu I don't consider that normal.
I know this is your friend, but the school should be made aware of what is going on.
It may not be sexual abuse - it may be that he's witnessed somethings he wasn't supposed to see or discovered some websites he shouldn't have. Either way - some intervention is warranted.

Oh man...what a postion to be in. While your friend doesnt think its a big deal, YOU do. I couldnt keep my dd around her child without knowing WTH was going on. Especially knowing that mom isnt pay any attention to it. Your priority is to keep your dd safe.

I would be up at the school demanding a conference with the principal. That child needs help. In my district, that behavior would get him thrown off the bus.

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
That is not normal behavior!!! My son is a 5th grader and I can guarantee he would never do something like that. Hell, he doesn't even know about that kind of stuff yet!!!
I would definitely contact the principal!!!

Oops I just saw your update that you called the prinicpal.
I'm sorry, but your friend needs some straightening out too. This would not be acceptable behavior in my book.

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
Not normal or appropriate. I think your friend is waayyy off trying to gloss over this. If it was my child, I would be HIGHLY disturbed and would be concerned about what actions occurred that haven't been mentioned.

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
I would have called the schools. Most school's now have bus camera's so they can witness for themselves as to what happened and judge whether it's normal behavior or something else. Also regardless whether or not its normal behavior it should definitly be addressed that the bus is not the appropriate time or place for that behavior. If it upset your child that much that they came home and told you it definitly needs to be addressed.

Re: WWYD?!!!!!
As a teacher, I am a mandated reporter to CPS. There is one central person for my building who is told and then they call CPS. If it is out of school I can call CPS directly.
This is definitely an incident I would be obligated to report. It is not normal.
ETA: I have only reported one such incident in over 16 years of teacher... I consider any report very serious. I've heard a lot of stories but this one... my gut would be telling me to report it.
