What do you do when your baby rolls over in his sleep?
For the first time this morning, I found DS on his stomach sleeping. He had gone to bed on his back. He seemed to be breathing OK but his nose and mouth were 1/2 buried into the mattress and everytime I tried to move his head he moved it back. Finally I was so nervous that I moved him back to his back but by then it was too late and he was awake. Does this happen to anyone else's child?

how old is your baby? Supposedly when they can roll by themselves, it's fine to leave them in that position.

One Charlie started rolling over, I didn't worry as much. As long as the mattress is hard enough, his face can't really sink into it.

6 months old...I just don't like that his nose and mouth aren't completely clear

Re: What do you do when your baby rolls over in his sleep?
Our pediatrician told us if he was strong enough to roll over, he's strong enough to move his head if he can't breathe. He said there's really nothing you can do about it and not to worry about it. Yes, I worried anyway but there really isn't anything you can do about it except make sure you use a tight crib sheet and remove the bumpers and all toys from the crib.

One DD now sleeps like this too. The mattress is really firm so I'm not that worried. I do however wake up about 100 times a night to go in and check on her to make sure her face isn't in the bumper and that she's ok.

Unfortunitely you just have to leave them and let them do what they want...just wait until you try laying the baby done for a nap and they keep sitting themselves up!!!!!!! Its just another milestone.....

dd just did this for the first time th other morning (or the first time i caught her doing it!) and I was so paranoid, kept looking at her on the monitor...I also expected here to freak out when she woke up, but she didn't - just sang herself good morning like always....i meanwhile had heart palpatations for the hour and half she slept like that

I agree. And what really helped me was getting the Angelcare Monitor. As soon as he started sleeping on his belly I bought it.

DD started to d othat when she started sleeping on her tummy. After a few weeks, she started moving her head to the side. I always went in there and tried to move her head but eventually it went back to being face first in the mattress.

Re: What do you do when your baby rolls over in his sleep?
i just posted this question the other and most BTDT moms said to leave DS. However, he is waking up b/c he's stuck and hasn't figured out how to back to his belly
