Appliance Shopping

We are shopping around for new appliances- we need everything refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer.

We are between a few brands and just don't know which is better. We are between Kenmore, LG, Whirlpool. Has anybody had a great or horrible experience with new appliances they bought? What store did you buy from? Best deals? Any words of advice?

Thank you! Chat Icon

Not sure what is best, but I swear by Consumer Reports.

I have a washer and dryer that are wirlpool and I like the dryer but I really don't like the washer, but its not the actual washer its the "new standard" on all machines. it hardly uses any water and I just don't feel that the clothes get that clean. it has an auto sensor to determine the water level and I find its never enough. Most new machines now have this so I don't think you can avoid this. And I bought the traditional ones not the front load

Unless you list the models you are looking at specifically you are going to get a ton of different reviews. What I usually do is google the exact model and read reviews of big ticket items. the lowest grade of any appliance may result in a bad review but you might not be considering the lowest model, KWIM

Re: Appliance Shopping

for the washer are you talking about the thing in the middle not being there.... I think its called an agitator? the guy in pc richard was trying to sell us one of those. It was the most $$ of the top loader washing machine which is what i'm looking for.

no mine has an agitator

its a standard washing machine and not a front load. it has all the same features including hand wash which was important to me, but like all the new washers now it has the water sensor. you can't select the water level anymore, which you used to say its a small, med or large load and that would send a pre-determined amount of water into the machine even if the load was bigger or smaller. they don't make them that way anymore.
