I am a failure.....
So Christopher has been starting potty training this week at school, and has been successful at school, but I havent been able to get him to do it at home. He has been having accidents. I have been following the protocol. What am I doing wrong?

Re: I am a failure.....
unfortunitely typical.
i used to have success when i taught but it took the kids a while to have success at home. just keep at it and eventually it will carry over. kids are ALWAYS harder at home then at school for everything! i see it so much now as a parent too!
he'll get it soon!

Home is ALWAYS different than school. You are most certainly NOT a failure! It'll come in time - I look at it as home being his comfortable, safe, rules-dont-always-apply place ... and personally I see nothing wrong with that.
Hang in there my friend!

Re: I am a failure.....
You are SO NOT a failure!!!!
The average age for potty training for children with special needs is older than typical children.
You are a wonderful mom.
This is a normal process.

Re: I am a failure.....
you are NOT a failure.
like everyone else has said... it is easier for them to be trained at school then it is at home.
DS is 3 years and 4 months and still NOT school trained, never mind home trained
