Lurker/Newbie needing post-pill advice...

So DH and I started TTC in September and I stopped taking Loestrin 24. No AF for September or October so the doc put me on metaprogesterone for 5 days... three days later.... AF two days 11/4-11/5

And here we are again... on CD 45... no AF

The doc told me to do the metaprogesterone again if AF didn't come in 40 days... but I'm balking because I kind of feel like I should wait it out.

Any girls with experience with this? I know this is totally TMI but what if the lining needs to build back up? I am NEVER taking the BCP again! Would you wait it out? take more meds?? eek. TIA.

i haven't been in this situation BUT i was on Loestrin 24 for many, many, many years. I never got my period on it. When I went off, my period came exactly 28 days later, and has been somewhat (a very shady somewhat) regular since then - between 22 and 33 days. Anyway I just wanted to share that with you because I'm not sure that it's definitely because of the pill itself.

If you're going more than 35 days without seeing AF, you need to speak to your OB about having tests done. Yes, sometimes women need a few months after going off BCP to regulate their cycles, but 45 days is out of the normal range, and continuously putting you on meds to bring on AF without trying to figure out the REASON isn't going to help you while TTC. My first cycle off the pill my doctor had me wait until 90 days to take provera just to clear my lining. My second cycle was 85 days and AF came on her own.

Over the next year and a half, my period was very irregular -- sometimes 63 days, sometimes 75 days, but somewhat regulated out to 59 days one cycle, 34 the next, and back and forth.

I do not have PCOS but I have had cysts in the past that come and go on their own along with my cycles. (I'd feel a cyst during sex, have a sono and they'd see it, then have a period and another sono and the cyst would be gone.)

It took us 3 cycles off other forms of BC (condoms & P&P) to become pregnant, but I didn't chart or anything. The first two cycles this year I was 34 days. The third, I got pregnant around CD46/47 and got my BFP on CD62.

You can be more aggressive than I was in trying to get yourself back on track or TTC of course. It just fit our "plan" not to have to because I went off BC so long before we were ready to TTC. But it's up to you and your doctor how fast you want to shed your lining if your body doesn't do it for you. My GYN would say every 90 days. Hard to wait, but it seemed to work out.

I'm due in 3 weeks, now.

I got a bfp today on cd56. I had a dr appt scheduled for cd78 to get provera. cd40 seems early to get provera but I don't have any experience with this

I had a similar experience after going off BCP. I went to the gyn and she properly diagnosed me and gave me meds to "correct" the situatioin.
