Are Highlights ok?
Hi everyone...I have an appt next week to get my hair highlighted I had made the appt prior to finding out i was pregnant. I will be just starting my 7th week when I go...can I still go or cancel it and wait a little longer?

Most doctors say that highlights are fine AFTER the first trimester. JMO, but I would wait until the second trimester.

Mine is very laid back as well. I just got mine done last week, but I am in the 2nd tri.

I got them done in the first tri - but had my colorist use special chemicals for pregnant women. Both she and my OB said it was fine to use regular chemicals, though (not that I rely on my colorist for these sorts of things!).

They usually suggest you wait until after the 2nd trimester. I got highlights at around 15/16 wks.

I just had mine done; my mom did it with the cap...but I'm 38 weeks. however, right from the start of the pregnancy, my doctor told me it was perfectly fine. I think it's a personal choice and seems to be something doctors have different opinions about.

My OB last time told me they were fine after first tri. This OB told me they were fine anytime. Check with your OB

I don't like to do anything in the first trimester. If I were you I'd hold off until you are in the second trimester.

the OK and NOT OK list from my OB says that highlights are OK... but i would wait until I was in the 2nd trimester.
I wonder about toner though....

OK, I have to ask. What special chemicals do they use for pregnant women? I am a hairdesser and have never heard of such a thing. Just curious?
Also, I highlighted my hair during my entire p/g. It is off the scalp if that is your concern.
