Crochet - different sized squares
I started my first crocheting project (a baby block blanket), but even though I measured them, they're all different size squares. How do I join them together? TIA!

Re: Crochet - different sized squares
You have to line up the stitches. Most of the time when you follow a pattern even if the squares are different sizes, the number of stitches along each edge is the same. You can then generally force them together, but lining up the stitches to sew together.

Re: Crochet - different sized squares
yes! sew them by the stitch. then you can block the whole thing to even out.
you can also block them BEFORE you sew them together. this way, you make the smaller ones grow a little.
blocking is when you wet the item you crochet or knit and then you pin them into shape. it's like those mesh shelves for drying a wool sweater, but with blocking, you'll use pins to keep them in a specific shape.
not sure i'm explaining it well... do a google search of blocking crochet items. i know there are millions out there who can explain it better than me

Re: Crochet - different sized squares
Thanks ladies!! Looks like I'll have to block them (google is awesome) - rather than doing the squares by the number of stitches I had tried to make them all 7x7 (that didn't work out well ). Thanks!!
