I wish we could all get an honest assessment of our kids from other parents. It would make guiding them a lot easier.

I don't think it's because your son is too good that friends are changing. It could be many reasons. I would speak to the teachers & ask for some input from the lunch aides, talk to the counselor at school. It could be something as simple as your son likes Diego, while the other kids like Star Wars. (an actual conversation I heard two little boys talking about a third playmate).

I would ask the mom for input. Not in terms of mending fences but to get input on what is going on socially from other kid's point of view. It may hurt to hear but if you go in with an open mind, you could really help your son to forge friendships.

I know it's heartbreaking to see your child hurt.
