How long before trying again?
Is it safe to try again right away?
I had a d&c Friday  Dr. says no sex (or anything) for 4 weeks...she said menstraution may occur in 4-6 weeks...is it safe to go for it at that point - after I get my period?
I know this is really a question for the doctor and I have an appt in about 2 weeks but I'm just wondering what other people's doctors have advised. I want to go for it again as long as the genetic counselor doesn't scare me - at least I think that is how I am feeling right now...

You should definitely wait until you get your first menstrual cycle. I got mine exactly 4 weeks after.

You can get pregnant before your first menstrual cycle? I would have thought you would need AF and then you ovulate 2 weeks later.

I had a DNC after a missed miscarriage and was told to wait 1 full cycle before trying again. I honestly was still sore and dry and not into it at all... but we tried like 2 times the first cycle we were allowed to try. It took a while before it became enjoyable again, but I wasn't willing to not try.
I really can't remember when AF came... if it was 4 or 6 weeks after the bleeding stopped.
Sometimes girls are told to wait 2 or 3 cycles. So if you doctor says 2 or 3, then don't be surprised. How far along were you?
IDK if that could be a factor in the length of time they tell you to wait.

Some Dr's make you wait three menstrual cycles. Mine said i was fine to try after my first. But supposedly, you are extremely fertile after a D&C & that is why they suggest waiting at least 1 menstrual cycle.

I honestly think its how the uterus looks. I was at 13 wks.

I just got pregnant again before my first menstrual cycle....I had a chemical tho and didnt need a DNC, it passed naturally

My Dr told me to wait two cycles to allow the uterine lining to build back up. My first period came about 6/7 weeks after my miscarriage. My second one came 36 days after that.

mrsk i was 9 weeks but i was measuring 7 1/2...
so i am guessing to expect the Dr to say after my first period as the minimum or 2-3 periods at the maximum.....
i'm hoping i don't have to wait too long - i just feel like if we are trying (and by trying i mean normal sex routine with no protection b/c that is what we did last time) i will at least feel like i'm doing something if that makes sense...instead of just waiting around...
i went to the ER 2 days after the d&c b/c i didn't feel well and they did an ultrasound and everything looked ok...just that my endometrium lining looked inflammed but that was normal after the procedure...i had a slight fever and just didn't feel right (not crampy, more like pains and i had the chills). my bloodwork and urine also came back fine but they gave me more antibiotics as per my doctor.
the only thing about trying right away is i don't know if it's too soon....i got pregnant right off bcps - i didn't menstrauate just got pregnant when i stopped taking them and i don't know if maybe it was too soon? that is another thought going through my head so i don't want to do anything too quickly again if my body isn't ready kwim? yet at the same time waiting makes me

I was 2.5 months when I had a d & c. My doctor told me I could try after my first af which I think came 6 weeks later.

I just went for my 2 wk follow up (after my d&c) and my doctor said to "wait" 2 cycles but many people don't. So he basically left it out there. I'm waiting at least 1 cycle and I'll see how I feel after that. Right now, I'm terrified to even get pregnant again.
Good luck I promise, it does get a tiny bit easier every day.

I got back from the doctor today and she said to wait for 3 periods  so that is what we'll do...
I asked if coming off the pill and then trying right away could have been a factor in the loss and she said it could be since I never got a period and got pregnant right away once I stopped them. She said sometimes the uterine lining is weaker after coming off the pill - so it *could* be a reason but also could have nothing to do with it. She said that is why we shoud wait 3 months from now - she wants my utereus (sp?) to be strong and ready for next time. So I guess I am comfortable with that. I read lots of mixed things on the internet about whether you need to wait or not but I rather not take the chance of another loss because my body wasn't ready. So even though it feels like forever hopefully three periods comes quick 
So now I wait...to be mentally there, physically there, emotionally there...
In the meantime we are also waiting for the genetic testing to come back and once we have those results we'll see the genetics counselor.
Basically lots of waiting...but I guess it's good to have some time...at least i'll be skinny for a little longer

yea. i just want a baby though. we want to start a family. thinking we had to wait until July was torture now add at least another 3-6 months to that at the very least..ugh...it seems so far away....and i'm so impatient!
but i know it is best not to rush into anything and it's better to let my feelings resolve...my OB told me she had a loss also and that going to work was torture b/c she had to see pregnant patients - she said it took her a good 3 months to get over it so i guess it's best to wait...she also told me she has two healthy kids so i love hearing that...
i can't wait until we are back on pregnancy - hopefully together!

its rare but its possible. You need to wait at least one cycle to try again if you had a normal miscarriage. You want your body to get back to its normal state. Talk to your doc...he will be able to give you more details about yoru situationl

We were told we could start TTCing again right away, but he said it didn't necessarily mean I would ovulate anytime soon. It took 3 cycles to ovulate again.
