Wii Fit

I just bought one. Has anybody lost weight using it? Which games are best for getting a good workout?

Re: Wii Fit

I have it and used it a little bit. Some of the things are pretty good. I love the hula hoop lol. My sister just sent me this chunk of from an article today:

At 65 years old, Dame Helen Mirren has a figure envied by many women half her age. And, although she's previously attributed her sexy shape to a "good constitution" and walking her dogs regularly, the UK's Daily Mail reports that the actress is also a big fan of the Wii Fit.

"The Wii is fun, and it's infinitely varied. You can hula, jog, yoga, step, all in one session. You need never get bored as every day you can tailor a new workout. It challenges you, and you do it at home, so nobody need see you in those old yoga pants and torn t-shirt. It's my new best friend," Mirren told the Daily Mail.

If the curve-skimming dress she wore to the October 3 premiere of "Red" is anything to go by, we'd have to say the Wii is a very, very good friend to her indeed! Then again, she was in pretty amazing shape to begin with, you know?

Mirren is such a fan of the interactive gaming system that she's appearing in an ad for the Wii Fit Plus this Christmas, reports the Daily Mail.

What kinds of things have you heard? I haven't really heard anything one way or another.

Re: Wii Fit

I have it. It honestly does NOTHING for me. I could never lose any weight using it. The games are fun..but I really dont think it does anything for weight loss.

Re: Wii Fit

This is my view point on it...

I have wii fit plus and Jillian Michael's personal training. My advice to you regarding the wii is this...it is a good fill in on days where you only have 20-30 minutes to get in a workout and you don't want to spend that time driving to the gym. I have not found it to be a good exercise program on it's own. You will probably get bored with it after some time and it's also just not intense enough for dramatic weight loss. I use it upon occasion and found it to be a great kick start to my workout. But I would not recommend it for a long term sole exercise plan.

Hope that made sense.

Re: Wii Fit

I just purchased the Wii Fit about a few months ago. It is okay, doesn't give a great workout, like the other posters mentioned, it's fun but not really a workout. I have used Wii Active and have lost a tremendous amount of weight doing that as well as changing my eating habits and I walk to and from Penn Station from 48th and Park daily, so all of that together I lost over 50 pounds. So if you are going to buy a workout regimen for the Wii, I would say go with the Active-More Workouts, I am pretty sure you will be satisified, I also think a new version will be coming out in November as well.

Re: Wii Fit

I think it is also good for balance and core strength. The hula is a workout and they also have a couple of ballancing games that are really challenging. As far as a cardio workout--I would say no. But like others said-its a good fill in and better than sitting on the couch!

Re: Wii Fit

I was reading the reviews and people who had Just Dance 2 loved the Zumba.

I'm thinking about getting it and the Wii Fit Plus and perhaps the AE game later on...I just cleaned up my spare room and it's motivating me.
