Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
I always like to hear about unique ways people tell their husbands, parents, in-laws, etc. that they are pregnant.
Share your story if you're willing

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
I told my husband that I bought him something at Target and he had to close his eyes.
I'm sure he thought it was a video game -- but I had the camera ready to tape his reaction and when he opened his eyes I had placed 2 HPTs in his hand.
His jaw dropped to the floor -- it was priceless.

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
Yesterday I ran out and bought my dh a book called "Quarterback Dad", 2 onesies that are our favorite sports team, and 2 bibs that said "I love my daddy" and put them into a gift box with the positive test (in a ziplock), wrapped it in Christmas paper, and texted him that I forgot I ordered him something for Christmas and it arrived today. When he got home last night he opened it and let's just say, shocked wasn't the word!
For my parents/family, I think we're going to try to hold out for my bday and possibly have "Happy Birthday Mommy" written on a cake so when we open it, they will be shocked. We may tell dh's mom and brothers that way too (they usually come over for my bday)

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
DH was on LI doing work so I sent him a pic of 2 prego tests.
For fam we had both families over for a brunch/holiday thing early Dec. I went upstairs to say I was changing DS. I came down stairs holding him and put him in a shirt that basically said "I have a big surprise. I'm going to be a Big Brother in July 2011" My MIL first noticed it and read it then called everyone together. It was really special

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
I was going to buy DH a litter box scoop (we could use a new one) with a bow on it and wait for him to realize what it meant. However, I POAS on cd56 and very unexpectedly saw a faint second line at 6am. I texted a pic to my good friend who was newly pregnant and she said she saw a line, so I woke up my DH and showed him the pee stick and asked him if he saw a line he was half asleep and didnt know "a line is a line" (he thought it needed to be as dark as the control) so he mumbled that he saw a line but I wasn't pregnant and went back to sleep. some online research, some more POAS, and a digital later and we realized I was indeed pregnant. NOT how I planned it but funny
we told our families by wrapping up "I <3 Grandma/Grandpa" type frames and putting in an insert that says "custom order under development [stork clipart] estimated delivery august 2011" We gave them as xmas gifts

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
DH was there when I took the HPT. He was shocked and we immediately ran out bought a digital and called to set up our first beta appt the next day.
For our Mom's we went to the mall kiosk and purchased two personalized Christmas photo frame ornaments that said, "Baby last name" and "2011" on it and inserted a copy of our latest sono. We then wanted to get something for our Dad's to open so we found cute Lenox Grandpa ornaments to give them too.
MIL's reaction: "This is nice!" (She didn't have her glasses on so she couldn't make out the sono! ) DH and I both looked at each other knowing she didn't get it!
My mom: She SCREAMED and then started to cry. Everyone at the table was wondering what she saw and then DH told them, "We're pregnant!"

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
Nothing exciting about throwing a + HPT in front of DH's face at 7am. That's how he found out.
With our parents I ordered a shirt from etsy for DS to wear. The front said "I have a secret" the back said..

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
I tossed the digital stick that said PREGNANT at DH when he came in from work and said "Well, if all goes well, you may have a DD (Designated Driver) for the next 9 months!"
He was shocked! Looked at it for like a minute, and told me to come give him a hug.
ETA: I just realized this is my first Pregnancy post. I have been too nervous to post yet.

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
For my family & in-laws I took a picture of the positive pregnancy test and put that & the first ultrasound picture in our photoalbum. We told them that we had some new pictures in our album and while flipping through pages, they came to that one & were shocked. It was really fun (we waited until after 12 weeks to tell anybody)

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
For DH, I just showed him the HPT b/c I didn't believe what I saw, LOL. For my parents, I made a "save the date" card for M & S's first ever "Labor Day Party" with my EDD as the party date. My Dad had it first and was all sorts of confused. I finally said, Mom, would you please take the card!! She got it right away!

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
I told DH I bought him a gift for making Captain in his fire department. Inside the bag was an outfit that said "I love Daddy" and two positive HPTs. I had the video camera hidden so I got his reaction on camera, which is priceless to me.
We brought a cake over to my family and had "We're having a baby!" written on it. I opened it and had my sister read it out loud. Not a dry eye in the house.
For ILs we got a onsie that said "destination grandparents" on it and put it in a giftbag. She knew when I walked in that I was PG because she said my DH sounded way too happy on the phone so I had to deny it until she opened the gift.

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
For DH, I just screamed upstairs for him to come to the bathroom, I screamed like the house was on fire practically! (and it was 5:30am! He came running down like something was wrong)
For ILs, we gave them a picture frame that says grandkids and put a picture of the PG test.

Re: Interesting ways of telling your DH or parents...
DH - I bought a BUMP (Baby Under Manufacturing Process) tank top and wore it the day I got my BFP ( I had ordered it when we were TTC). It actually took him forever to notice so I finally had to throw myself in front of him and pout over how he wasn't paying attention
We bought my mom a t-shirt from BBB that had a granny smith apple on it and said "Don't Call Me Granny" - my mom looks very young and we always teased her that we would teach our kids to call her "Granny" to make her feel old
For my sisters, we bought tank tops that said #1 on the front of one of them and #2 on the other (the backs said "Aunt"). My sisters always compete with each other so I held up the tanks only exposing the front and asked them "Who wants #1 and who wants #2". It was funny seeing them fight over which one got which before they even noticed what the back said .
My dad we bought a "Worlds Greatest Poppy" shirt.
For DH's whole family, we put a t-shirt on our 2 year old nephew that said "This Little Monkey is Going to be a Big Cousin" and waited for everyone to notice.
