Contractor/Carpenter Recommendations, Please!!!
We are looking to remodel our basement (new sheet rock, paint, high hats, etc.) and skim coat and paint a bedrooom in our home for the new baby due to arrive in April.
I would have preferred a carpenter who actually does the work himself, but as long as they do quality work for a reasonable price, I'd be fine with a contractor.
Please only recommend people that you've had great experiences with. My bathroom remodel was a nightmare and I don't think I can deal with a similar situation while I'm preggo and working right now!

Al completed our bathroom a few months ago. Though it looks absolutely beautiful, the plumbing was done poorly. We had two major leaks and five visits from him to fix things. Ultimately I had to call in a new plumber to repair his work and it cost another $2000. If you hire him, I suggest you hire your own plumber to work with him.

I would NOT use Al casas. I used him and he is yet to finish something in my house which he told me he would come back many times and never did. He came late and was rarely on site during the day and most of his crew doesn't speak english so I couldn't tell them I didn't want something done etc. I feel as if he half assed many things also. I had plumbing problems also
this guy is cheap for a reason and I learned the hard way

I agree with becareful. Our plumbing problems occurred within days. Our plumber found other problems that would have surfaced probably after about a year. I would rather have paid more money than deal with the anxiety and hassle of this.

I totally agree, I would rather pay a little more and not deal with issues after the fact.
I got an estimate today from mike madias who seemed very nice and honest and I'm waiting to hear from tru tek who i've used for other projects. I'm sure they'll be expensive though.
Keep the recommendations coming! I appreciate hearing the good and bad!

We have used Tru Tek in the past. They are expensive but do good work. They built our deck and installed our front door.
I would also look into the big companies like Sierra, Larson, Madden and Chrisnic
Stay away from RMC Restorations

not always true.....When you write up the contract, make sure everything you want is included and there arent any grey areas. That is how contractors add things on that will cost you more money.
