How long until you speak to your gyno?
Possible TMI warning. So this is our 6th month of TTC. I'm not sure if I even count the 1st few months because I don't know if we BD enough. However, last month we BD so much that I don't ever want to BD again. Then I got my period Fertility issues run in my family and I'm thinking of making an appt with my gyno to make sure everything is working ok. I'm under 30 so I know they say to wait a year but I'm really nervous.

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
when I started i was 29 and my doc told me to come back at 6 months. i went back at 7 and they gave me scrpits for DH and I to get tested after the 9th cycle. they said that its just baseline bloodwork and a SA for DH, but they will want to test him 2x no matter what his results are, so that will take us close to 12 months, when they will start more in depth testing
at 6 months they gave me a lot more advice on BDing, things I never knew. they talked to me about temping and told me to start that at month 9. they took awhile to explain alot I never heard or thought of.
Some doctors won't see you until a full 12 months and some see you earlier. it doesn't hurt to leave a message for your dr and when he or she calls back, express you concerns. it never hurts to ask

I would go and make an appt esp if your saying some issues run in your family. It def can't hurt by talking to your dr sooner than later. Good Luck!

I would go also, it can't hurt. I called my gyno as this is our 5th month with no success and they told me to wait one more month.

something you probably know already since it seems like you know a lot
every other day as soon as AF stops until day 11 then every day for 10 days then back to every other day to not get up at all as soon as we bd no am bding only at night and putting my legs in the air is useless but I still do it, it makes me feel better
the hardest part is going to sleep afterwards or not moving. they also told me to pee right before so I don't have to go for a few hours

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
It can't hurt to ask the Dr. Depending on the Dr's view on things, they might be more proactive and send you for bloodwork, SA, sonos, etc.
I went to mine before we were even planning to TTC and they ran test that showed I had blocked tubes and endometriosis. I never would have known I had issues if the Dr. wasn't proactive and it would have taken a lot longer for us when we do TTC.

i would go. there is no harm in going especially if there are issues. they can run the initial testing at least.

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
Mine won't do testing till you've been trying for a year, but 1) It can't hurt to talk especially if you are concerned and 2) how would they know how long you've been trying?

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
My gyno is also a fertility specialist and she suggested that I start seeing her for fertility testing after 6 months (as a side note, she also treats me for ovarian issues I have..so I dont know if the 6 months is sooner or later than normal).
HTH!

Yea, we're going on month 6. I'm not out yet, but I;m 3 days late and got a BFN yesterday. I'm seeing mine on the 20th for a regular check up, so a visit can't hurt.

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
I knew I had problems because I was told I had PCOS as a teenager. I went off the pill and after 2 months never got my period so I went right to an RE. He confirmed the issues and said it was good I didn't waste anymore time.

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
Good question and thanks everyone for the answers!
My question is - what if you "lie" to your dr. and say its been a year but really it was only 9 months. Technically I know you are only lying to yourself but I myself cannot imagine waiting a full year. I would at least want some blood done and me and DH and SA before 1 year.
On the flip side, I do know several couples who took a full year to get pregnant so it is not uncommon. If I were you though, I would go now. You have nothing to lose right? Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: How long until you speak to your gyno?
Truthfully I know like everyone gets pg so easily, and I know many people that did, but of my closest friends, it took everyone over 6 months and at least half closer to 9 months.
