Work out everyday or every other day

I used to work out every other day doing both strength training and running. Lately I have been working out everyday alternating between running and strength training but I feel so regimented, like I have to rush home from work everyday to work out then make dinner and so on. I might switch back to working out every other day but then it turns into about and hour and a half of working out. What do you do?

I used to work out 4-5 days a week now I started to work out everyday and if I don't I do not feel good within myself.

Personally, I find I get better results when I work out every other day.

I work out 5-6times a week. Always Monday - Friday and then I'll rest on Sat and aim for Sunday.

I do cardio everyday but I alternate which areas I do strength training with.

working out everyday is going to have a negative effect on you. your body needs rest to repair itself, or else you are constantly over training.

working out everyday is going to have a negative effect on you. your body needs rest to repair itself, or else you are constantly over training.



Def true. Working out 5-6 times a week can have a bad impact on your body. It needs to rest.
Try working out 3 times a week. If you feel the need to exercise more, try walking. Trust me your body will thank you.Chat Icon

I run 4 days a week and do weight training in addition to two of them. I always run on Sundays...the other days depends on my schedule for the week.

How much cardio do you do and what type cardio?




I do about 35min of cardio sometimes 45min, I usually run/powerwalk on the treadmill in intervals or I'll break it up and do a little bit on the elliptical, precor, spinning classes, and stair master.

But I feel like I get the best workout on the treadmill and its harder for me to slack off than on the other machines.

What kind of strength training do you do?

I have a treadmill at home, so I run on that. My weakness is strength training, I do yoga once a week and some push-ups after I run.

this is true for me also- I feel like I get a much better work out on the trendmill and I am drenched in sweat

when I do the elliptical I feel like I am slacking- b/c I do slack off

exactly!! Esp if I workout w/ my friend, we'll talk and not realize how much we slow down on the elliptical or stair master, but on the treadmill I have no choice to keep at my pace and will realize when I need to increase the speed.

I work out 3-4 nights a week..usually M-W or Th...then I rest for Fri, Sat and Sun
