Have to see the Dr.- UPDATED on bottom
Just called my OB and they said to see my primary care physician right away. Here's what happened:
I have 3 cats...on Saturday night around 4am one of them was laying on my chest sleeping...well another one jumped on the bed and spooked the sleeping cat which made her freak out and jump off of me...leaving me with a scratch down my arm approx. 6-7 inches in length and bleeding. I got out of bed crying and used a cold wet washcloth to clean myself up. I went back to sleep with a towel around my arm and thought nothing of it. WELL...my mom told me I needed to call the Dr. right away...needless to say work is crazy and I put it off until today and when I called they said to see the Dr. right away. I have an appointment at 6pm tonight.
Hopefully it's nothing. The scratch is a little sore still and slightly swollen, but other than that I feel fine, BUT i don't want the baby to be at risk for anything.
Has this happened to anyone else ever?

Re: Have to see the Dr.
I have not had this happen but I can understand why...if pregnant women can not go near a litter box and since the nail broke the skin and made you bleed, if there were any germs on the cat's nail it could have affected you. You should be fine...
Good luck at the Dr....

Re: Have to see the Dr.
My cat bit me on the leg when the dog scared him and it was fine. The big thing with the cat poo is the spores that come of the old poo its not anything on the cat itself.
My cat also scratched my bell (again when the dog scared him) and I didn't even think anything of it.
Always better to check it out but I am sure you'll be just fine, don't stress.

Re: Have to see the Dr.- UPDATED on bottom
Went to my Primary Care physician who drew blood and are testing me for Toxoplasmosis. He said that it would be EXTREMELY rare that I got it since my cats are strictly indoors and it's typically transferred by ingestion not stratches, but he wanted to be safe than sorry.
That said, I'm not worried anymore and I'm really glad I went. I should have the blood results in 1-2 days.
Thanks for help and opinions!!
